And now here in the US Shout Factory owns all Gerry Anderson's shows including this one. I think Shout Factory liked popular puppet shows because they also own ALF as well.

This is what other toy channels need to do instead of just showing the toys - you have a good presentation were you get the history (what i'm interested in) and see the merchandise. This makes someone like me who isn't a toy collector take the time to see the merchandise!!!

This was always my favourite Anderson show due to the darker tone. The die-cast SPV was a much loved childhood toy. During the re-runs I picked up a ton of figures and vehicles from the Kellogg's give away. Great video Tony.

Those kettle drums! Thanks for this great video, it's amazing that repeats of 60s shows on Friday nights in the 90s led to them being embraced by a new generation, to the point that entire new toylines were created.

Same here! I was a 90s kid and thanks to those reruns on BBC2 I just couldn't get enough of those old shows. Even now at 38 years of age I'm still a fan of those old shows (plus many others from that era) and while I don't want to sound like a grumpy old man, to be honest I prefer them to the stuff that goes out now. Don't get me wrong there are still good shows and movies out there, but mainly I tend only to watch stuff that is based on retro shows and movies. As it stands 'Captain Scarlet' is my all time favorite Gerry Anderson series. SIG

I'm recently digging the old and new Captain Scarlet series. Yes I'm a new fan for this modern era. And your video has just been coincidentally, recently released and it's really good to be able to see the toys in this HD quality videos. Oh yeah I recently acquired diecast Rhino by Corgi and the "Choro Q" version of the old vehicles made by Takara (before merged/changed into Takara Tomy). Thank you for your video, and cheers from Indonesia.

Fantastic show! YTV used to air it at night here in Canada (and Stingray), and preferred it to Thunderbirds. Just recently snagged myself a Captain Scarlet figure on eBay.

I had one of those SPV's! I didn't have any Captain Scarlet figures as far as I remember but I did have quite a few Star Trek TNG figures which I would place inside and I also had the Star Trek shuttle craft with lights and sound effects. Great memories

Excellent review, Tony. If I remember, this line saw an extremely limited release in Canada. Can’t remember who imported it. I have been a fan of captain scarlet since my childhood, having first encountered it in French translation. Also thank you for including that Rice Crispies commercial. Fun!

Great video Tony! Not sure is this counts as more play-ability or not, but the Angel's engine noise is angle-dependent, so it you tilt it into a climb, the engine noise pitches up and tilt it into a dive, the engine noise pitches down :)

Great video Tony, captain scarlet was one of my favourite gerry Anderson shows, always surprised me that a kids show with puppets could be so dark. I remember this toy line from the 90's and being a collector it didn't interest me but after watching your video I may have to track these down, cheers mate👍

I want all these toys now! I’ve always preferred his live action stuff, especially UFO, and I’ve collected some of the dinky stuff. But of course thunderbirds was my gerry Anderson gateway drug . I’m now thinking I need to give captain scarlett more of a watch. And these toys look really sweet.

I'm outside of the SPECTRUM of Gerry Anderson fans, in that I like Stingray best of all the Supermarionation programs. And My favorite live action Gerry Anderson shows were Space 1999, and Space Precinct. I do like most of the other shows, except 🎼"Supah 🎶Caaaah🎵".

I discovered Scarlet in the early 1990s, as he was shown on the the Sci-Fi Channel on Saturday mornings in a block. I taped the all onto vhs then, and I own them on DVD now. I love the vehicles of the Captain Scarlet tv series, but the puppets were my favorite that Anderson ever did! Love the more realistic looks of them. Great review of this '90s toy line. I do have a few of the figures from the line, but they aren't my favorite sculpts, really. For a long time though, they were the best available, and that's why I got them. I have the Captain Scarlet, Captain Blue and Captain Black figures still in the packages. I have a ton of the vintage Captain Scarlet vehicles, but not in this particular toy line. These are the smaller ones. The SPV is the one with the ejector seat. Heh. I also have the large 12" Captain Scarlet figure that Big Chief produced a few years ago. It's really a nice figure for the most part, but it has two features that bug me, and one that never worked. I'm not a fan of figures where you can remove the hair to add on a hat. I hate that so much! Hasbro did it with Lady Jaye, and I think it blows! I wound up getting a second Lady Jaye just so I could glue a hat on one, and the other I glued on the hair. If you're gonna do that, toy companies, it's better to just have two different, swappable heads. Stop dicking collectors around! Heh. I'd have preferred Big Chief to have given us two different heads. God knows we paid a gi-normous price for the large Scarlett figure already, so that SHOULD have been done instead of the cheesy hair and hat swap B.S. The second thing that I don't like is the eye moving feature. You have to get into the back of the head and flip a switch for each, INDIVIDUAL eye!! Heh Yeah, the move independently, and they're nearly impossible to realign again after you've done that. It's wasn't a feature it was actually an annoyance and hinderance! The feature that never work is that the epaulets on his shoulders are supposed to glow with light when you lower the microphone on his hat, but I could never get that to work, and no one who bought it seemed to be able to either. Despite an amazing sculpt, I only got the single figure from this larger, high price toy line because at the high price and the over a year waiting time, I expected much, much better execution. Toys shouldn't be annoying. They should just be fun! Unlike Big Chief, Vivid at least made toys that were fun, so even though the Big Chief Scarlet looks more accurate to the show, the Vivid figure wins my vote. One last add on to my giant reply. Back in the early 2000s, I was asked to draw a new CAPTAIN SCARLET comic book, but sadly the fellow who paid the license to get it produced only one SUPER CAR comic book, and one UFO comic book, and then decided not to do Scarlet just as we were getting the script together. I would have killed to have done a Captain Scarlet comic book! I only produced one, single illustration, that landed me the gig initially, but I thought you might enjoy seeing it. I turned this around in a single day. I hope you like it! www.lostonwallace.com/scarlet100.jpg

I remember having some of these figures back in the 90s when I was a kid, including the SPV. I did have the space suit Captain Scarlet, but that was lost long ago through time. I remember having some of the Thunderbirds figures too & my brother had a Joe 90 figure. There was a huge boom of Gerry Anderson shows being rerun in the 90s. One odd thing I remember was an advert for Pizza Hut with Captain Scarlet, it was strange seeing that as a kid & it's stuck with me since.

Thanks for the videos on the Gerry Anderson franchise. I never even so much as saw a single pic or heard even one name from these shows (and their awesome merchandise, new or old) until maybe a few years ago thanks to your channel and one called Toy Poloy. As much as I'm envious of y'all having grown up with these (Four Feathered Falls especially), like they say, never too late, right?

I was a HUGE fan of Captain Scarlet as a kid in the early 70's sans TV program so I would just stumble across on-air eps vs Thunderbirds as broadcast every morning at 6:30am (on Ch 9 here in Sydney) which I'd watch before school. I bought these Vivid figures (+ the 12inch) but missed on the SPV, which is a unique piece even tohugh a "deformed" version. A pity no company has made an updated FULLY articulated 1/18th range of figures and tru scale vehicles. I felt Vivid took shorcuts eg: those terrible chunky swivel joints. I thought that Destiny Angel was UGLIER than the Star Wars POTF "Ape-Face" Leia !
