NubRusty I don’t think this is necessary true. Stax players are actually required to think quite a lot in order to sequence correctly and win a game. @AhGotcha4 жыл бұрын
He didn’t take Elesh back before playing it, so yes. It’s a state-based effect, which can’t be responded to. It resolved, he got the etb, but it entered as a 0/0. I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t be able to use Homeward Path in response to Solemn being a 0/0 and save it. He could do it in response to Solemn’s death trigger, but not in response to the state-based effect. Solemn dies, he gets Elesh Norn back, then draws a card. If he did it in that order.

Question: Why would you not gain control of the creatures when Gilded Drake got hit with Swords to Plowshares? Gilded Drake still entered the battlefield and his ability would've had to be countered to stop it. Swords To Plowshares doesn't act as a counterspell.
@danriemer97244 жыл бұрын
The oracle text states if you can’t make the exchange then you sacrifice the card. Also, you can’t make the exchange if Gilded Drake isn’t on the field so the ability fizzles. gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=5837

701.10a A spell or ability may instruct players to exchange something (for example, life totals or control of two permanents) as part of its resolution. When such a spell or ability resolves, if the entire exchange can’t be completed, no part of the exchange occurs. Example: If a spell attempts to exchange control of two target creatures but one of those creatures is destroyed before the spell resolves, the spell does nothing to the other creature.

I know it didn't change the game at all but shouldn't the cradle have been exiled after you were taken out while in control of it? Just curious.
@MTGMuddstah4 жыл бұрын
No. Steal effects that happen to permanents on the board become nullified when the player controlling the effect is removed. If I had stolen it with something like Praetor's Grasp, Bribery, etc, where it comes in to play first on my side of the board, then it would have been exiled.
@DarkEinherjar4 жыл бұрын
When a player leaves the game, these things happen, in this order: -All objects they own leave the game with them, even the ones they don't control; -All spells and abilities they control that are on the stack leave the game; -Effects that grant that player control of objects owned by other players cease and those objects return to the previous controller; -After that, if there are still any objects under that player's control (stuff owned by other players but that they cast or put on the battlefield under their control), then those objects are exiled. For simplification, think of the default controller, the player who cast or put the object on the battlefield under their control to begin with. If that player leaves the game while controlling that object, then that object is exiled.
