Very few voices would be allowed to lullaby me-this is one of them! The quality and richness is as deep as the ocean!!

I loathed this song in the 70s, but funny how now that I hear it once again I think it's pure genius!

Give me thumbs up if Toni Tennille has the most incredible smile.

Definitely one the greatest fun songs ever; and her smile, one the most memorable and persuasive in show biz. Eat you're heart Henry K...muskrat love forever. Thanks for the post.

Beautiful, Smart and with talent. I had a crush on her during the 70's. What a voice and the looks.

I used to work on a union dock with a bunch of guys in flanel shirts with Cat Diesel Power hats on. We loved this song and danced to it.

I always loved the adoring looks Toni's always tossing toward Daryl while she's singing. She seems like such a sweetheart! Those two will be together forever!

She so reminds me of Lori, my fomer girlfriend of 7 years ago. The eyes and smile make me cry. Wish I had married her! Thanks for posting.

Only Toni could have taken a silly novelty tune and turn it into a tender love song.

I saw this when I was little. I had no idea what a bi-centennial was but I liked the song. Thanks for the background history.

Ever since I was a kid, I wondered about the strange enduring chemistry of Captain and Tennille. I remember when their show was on the air, but can hardly remember Daryl Dragon saying a single word. His expression was always blank: a kind of extreme parody of the unflappable straight man. Whereas Toni Tennille was laughing, singing, joking, having the time of her life. Whatever the strangeness, I love Captain and Tennille.

What a classy lady.

Could not agree more! Both had great class, smokin voices. NO ONE ever admitted to listening to either, till they were in the car by themselves. TURN up the AM radio and play it right.... MY $0.02

Omg....this song is so amazing.

Her voice is amazing. Always thought she should be doing the great standards of the 1930s, 40s, etc. She (& Marilyn McCoo) had the most lush sound. And Daryl was always so wacky - never fit the mold and love how he doesn't care a bit! Really gifted artists...

One of the most sensual and best voices ever. Like it so much more than all these yelling Ladies of today. She had style she grace... Toni Tenille gave good face - and voice ;-))

It's such a strange lyric, but the song is wonderful........Toni at her sensual best....

Anytime someone gives me a ration of $#!% over this song, I sing 'em a quick chorus of "Thong Song"; that usually shuts 'em up quick! Thank you for posting this; I'm adding it to my favorites. . . Tom

This was great. That simple story before the song spoke volumes of one of many differences in today's/and yesterday's pop culture. Just telling a simple story displayed Mr's Tennille's personality, something rarely seen today >>> Real, genuine, sincere. I forgot how well spoken she was. Not a bad singer as well. The song, however, I can do without.

My mother named me after Tennille. I'm proud to share my name with this woman. She is beautiful AND classy, unlike the majority of women today.

Many people are unaware...when you sing...to help you stay on key (and not be flat or sharp) you are supposed to smile.
@nicsfan4ever15 жыл бұрын
I agree totally! Its either you hate it and think it is just awful or you love it and think its cute. Me of course I love it as well. It wouldnt matter to me what they were singing about I would love it regardless!

Loved her hairstyle when that first came out; of course now I like her hair much better. I remember them singing it and them having a little cartoon to go along with it. Remember their bulldogs?

Toni has five times more voice, it's more elastic and round, and a little of the scratchiness of Gladis Knight

@smthoman - I think fashion designers intentionally make clothing with very little fabric and sell them at places like Wal-Mart for very low prices. Toni Tennille and Stevie Nicks are both quite beautiful, and I respect them because they can be that way without dressing like trashy hos. lol
