He is so cool! He's an old time cop who had a 6th sense when something didn't seem right. So happy to have this interview to know more details about the arrest. During the Florida trial, Bundy pestered Bob on the stand with pointless questions about getting "permission" to look in the car. When Bundy was asked by Bob if he could take a look, Bundy said, "Go ahead". Case closed, Bundy! Bob's instinct was right on. Would have been pretty interesting if Bundy would have blabbed to Bob about his crimes. But, likely Bundy would have talked in his endless circles and waste the time of all concerned.

My mother presumably came across Bundy's car in 1978. On Medical Drive in Tallahassee, FL where he was known to drive around the back of the hospital (to hunt). I was already at the top of Miccosukee Rd and Medical Dr on our nightly walks when I noticed my mother had been stopped by someone in a car; near the bottom of the road. So, I stood there and waited for her to catch up. Just staring. (Was she giving directions? What was taking so long?) A few moments later as white as a ghost she abruptly turned around and began walking straight for Miccosukee Rd. Rapidly. With no looking back. (What just happened? Why is the car still just sitting there; stopped in the middle of the road?) She finally reached me in a panic and whispered just keep waking. And, kept right on walking; right past me. [Curious I took a few seconds to continue staring at the still non moving car down Medical Dr. When I turned to look back at my mother she had bypassed me by nearly 2 blocks at this point. I had to nearly run to catch up.] "Mom what's wrong, what happened"? What was all that about? "His car". "His car"? What about his car? "It's not right. The inside is all weird". [What? It looked almost exactly like the car my parents drove for years. A white VW beetle bug.] Why was my mom concerned? And, why was she surprised to see what the inside of a VW beetle bug looked like? She would already know what one looks like inside. It would take decades to learn about Bundy's car and that detail. And, there needs to be further investigation on victims #5 and #6 for that January night. Do they have DNA from those crime scenes? Did they ever collect Bundy's DNA by chance?

@@sweetassugar2076 I know right. I read the story, and was left with suspense. There are many crazy people out there, that most of us come across. When I was in high school walking home from school, there were 4 men inside a parked vehicle, which I had just walked by, when one of them asked me to place my hands on a set of handcuffs, which the end was locked onto the vehicles door handle. I yelled out to him, F you!, At this point I was thinking about turning around, and visiting the police department to report them, which was located one block away, but I thought that if I did that, then they would follow me one day, and really hurt me.. Returning to that story, it could have been a crazy person, and maybe not Bundy. There were many VW Bugs on the road during the time of Bundys rampage.. For example, there are millions of black colored Honda Civics out on the road in 2023

He wasn't a good guy, he knew about charm. There were some wicked cowboy builders that stole from and elderly lady in my road. She was a widow and her husband had been shot down and killed in WW2. She never re-married and lived alone. They stole her husbands war medals and took a ton of stuff out of her jewelry box while asking to use the bathroom. She was such a nice old lady, very shy but she would always smile and wave at us kids. After this happened she got very unwell and the last time I saw her my mom was visiting her in a nursing home. You see these psychos ruin lives by pretending to be nice. The giveaway is your intuition. Guess that's why they often pick on the elderly. Bundy is an extreme version.

Very recently watched a video of a young man give an account told to him by his in your youth. She, her sister, and a third female Presumably just barely escaped Bundy's escape while on a picnic and R&R in arkansas. They noticed they were being watched oddly by a slender dark haired man in a suit across the lake or river. Suddenly, his mom noticed the man was gone. A few seconds out of the corner of her eye she noticed the man again walking (as if to circle the lake to their side). BUT, walking with a purpose, fast and straight. Fixated. With no one else around. They ALL nonchalantly gathered their belongings and quickly walked back to their car ASAP and rapidly. (One remembers bending down to grab a big pebble/rock and continuing to the car as fast as possible.) The man approached the car. They burned rubber out of the parking area. They past the other parking lot and saw the man get into his car. They sped down the road to get away - create distance on a long empty road. Moments later they saw the car speeding behind them. Gaining momentum and closing the gap. The girls drove faster. (One still squeezing her rock.) Eventually, the "light tan/cream" VW with a thin dark haired driver gave up. [Arkansas circa ~ 1975] Some time later; almost 15 years later, shortly after Bundy's execution there was a tv special talking about Bundy. Who he was, mannerisms, looks, tricks, vehicles, suspected crimes etc. While watching tv the son's mother learned that Bundy was a dresser; law student who often war suits. But, most importantly Bundy's enfamous car was shown - the tan (cream) colored VW. The woman immediately called her sister (who was watching the tv special too). And, asked "Do you think it was ... (Him"?) The sister immediately replied without hesitation "I know it was him". Not a bit of doubt in her mind.

Nice story. Arkansas is not a State normally associated with the Ted Bundy killings, however he did say there were many States who would be interested in talking to him. Also when asked if 37 was the number of his victims, he said "you can add another digit to that total". Did he mean 137 deaths, 38 deaths, 137 deaths and rapes, we'll never know but one thing for sure, his sister was very lucky as he had all three girls targeted.

It's probably been said before, but this guy was a true, honest to God unsung hero, and I wish he had lived long enough to see James Hetfield portray him on the big screen. He doubtless saved so many lives, but looking more deeply, it actually goes beyond even that. I realize that, of the 6 known victims Bundy killed after the DaRonch kidnap and before he went to trial for that kidnapping, only one of them (that being Campbell) was EVER found, unless you count that single bone of Debi Kent's. It seems like the remaining 4 (Julie Cunningham, Denise Oliverson, Lynette Culver, and Susan Curtis) were all never recovered at all (please correct me if I am wrong). Taking that aspect into consideration, Bundy really was entering a terrifying phase of his rampage in 1975, and Bob Hayward just by chance put a stop to that by pulling him over. Not only in terms of saving so many lives, but also likely preventing the double tragedy of so many families never knowing what happened to their daughters. Again, truly incredible that you had the opportunity to meet and ride with this incredible human being before he passed away. He trusted his gut, and it made such an enormous difference.

Bundy was dressed in Black, sober, and had burgarly tool.. He may have been just out looking for a car to rob or an unlocked garage, etc. He was a thief for sure, but everyone assumes he was out looking for a vic. We may never know
