Amazing I went there as a kid a couple of times but all I remember of the place was an airplane you could go into an experience what it was like to sit in it

My Grandad worked for Lambton estates, farming for decades as well as subsequently within the park itself. My grandparents had a farmhouse on the estate and my sister and I spent almost every weekend in the early 70's there. The exotic animals escaped far more than was made public however :D

Hello Ned, I very much look forward to looking around the grounds this year. I’ve lived over the wall (Washington side) all my life and have never seen past the gates... Cheers, George.

Every home had a wooden gazelle ornament, which would topple off the mantlepiece with the slightest nudge.

Went when I was a kid last time I was there was for a promotion of auto trader car magazine back in the 90s lol made me laugh as I bumped into the Wolf off gladiator who is so much smaller in life than on Tv. Fantastic place to visit back in the days. It’s more of an housing estate than a park these days.

The good news is the place is still there. No animals. And it’s closed obviously. Bad news houses are starting to appear in the surrounding areas. So maybe we’ll never see the like again.

I live only half a mile from the park and although you're correct, nearby has been built on, it's half million homes only. Regardless, the place is in very good shape and is of course on private land. All animals gone except the deer and wow there's a lot.

SONOVMI yeah I had a sneaky wander round. All the old enclosures are there and the roads driving through the lions and monkeys. It was eerie and nostalgic.

My brother dug a big hole and buried an elephant there. He didn't really. George Vardy plant hire ltd got the job of doing it, my brother was an aprentice at the time. Zoo animals don't die they just get moved to other zoo's or so they say. They don't, they get buried in holes dug by local bulldozer firms.
