One of the characteristics that distinguish it differently from a Katana is that the the Ninj-to has a straight blade (it looks like the modder *tried* to put a curve in the blade but barely got any at all in it), the Katana blade is curved along its entire length. The Katana is also longer but both swards were designed to use two-handed. Heck, I've got a Ninja-to that looks nearly identical to that...Except that the hand-guard on mine is square, not round and the end of the pommel is shaped like a dragon's head.

Here’s a physics explanation for why custom weapons are broken: Gorn hand physics are the same as most vr games, and the weapon physics are basically that the handle is connected to the hand while the weapon itself has 2 main physics points for most weapons and damage hit boxes along the weapon, the second point at the end of the weapon has a physics drag, in gorn damage and stun length is most likely calculated by the speed of the blade/blunt, and the balancing of the weapons comes from its drag, so an entirely solid model will do way more damage for the same amount of effort, which is why the metal fists are the most powerful compared to others, this explains the instant death effect that custom weapons have.

the reason the gun keeps blowing up is because your pulling in two opposite directions and since you can't let go unless you want to and your hand don't move from their position it causes the game to freak out and the gun to explode, long story short, don't pull your hands away from eachother...or put them too close because it might make the gun implode
