Considering the fact that I have literally been on KZbin for most of my life, I can only count on 2 hands on how many times I have left a comment on a video. You can consider this comment a rare occurrence for me and hopefully a special one for you. I'm 22 and currently seeing a therapist, made good progress with him and I'm now barely starting to understand how I'm supposed to live life. When I watched the first 5 minutes of this video you opened up my eyes a little bit on how I should be thinking about my own life. The 'Gun to your head' scenario you mentioned really kind of made me think about the fact that I don't and wouldn't take such crazy ideas and put them into action even when we all know that we have a countdown timer to our death. Then I said to myself "why wouldn't I?". Just from your example alone, you made me self inquire about this topic on a level deeper than ever before and this means a lot to me. Thank you Nikhil for giving me a step forward in life.

Reminds me of Steven Covey's "happiness is the pursuit of a worthwhile goal". We are happy when we are working toward something we're looking forward to accomplishing. We need things to work toward and look forward to.

I've always been confused by this idea of chasing happiness as a goal. To me, being happy is feeling like I'm doing enough, feeling like I'm working as hard as I could be in life, no matter where I am at that moment. I work a job, I work towards my goals, and I try to be a good person. I am "happy." My problem now is wondering how to enjoy life day by day like a kid again, which I believe is where the excitement factor comes into play. Live every day like tomorrow is Christmas I think you put it one time. Anyways, keep up the good work!

I remember working at Wal-Mart and seeing 4 Hour Workweek in the book rack. I read a few pages while on break, bought the book, and walked out. While Spicy Melon, the internet business of sharing recipes online that I came up with while reading 4HWW, never came to pass, so much of what I learned about being a freelance video editor and shooter as well as a KZbinr I can trace back to that once fateful day of seeing a random book in a Wal-Mart.

Wow I never really considered how chasing “happiness” is a fools errand. Excitement really is the most tangible high we can chase. I think love and appreciation are up there on things we can strive for as well. The feeling you get when you’re surrounded by the ones you love the most is very real and primal. One thing I still wonder is how much suffering from your job is too much? Some level of suffering is needed to achieve success but at what point is it too much?

Being in medical school and becoming a MD has been full of sacrifices, but has given me much, even though I can't say it's my perfect passion. It has given me many things, including experiences, grit, personal (and professional) development, a larger meaning, and knowledge and practical skills. That's really, really valuable, and all these aspects are part of my identity, my life, and open a lot of (other) doors into the future. I wouldn't have a made a different choice, even though it's not my absolute and only passion.

When I was 16 in high school. I set all these academic and extra cocurricular goals for myself. Definitely hard times, but I know I felt full. At the end of the year, I finally reached my goals. But I didn't feel happy at all when I was at the end of it. I felt a sudden empty hollowness in me. And what was next is pursuing an eating disorder to fill myself up again. The working towards that future end goal makes you happy but reaching that future end goal it isn't happiness

Something that bob Marley once said has stuck with me concerning money when he got asked if he is rich. And in jest. It was the fact that he isn't money rich. But he is life rich. And since then I've kind of tried to look around and see the richness I have in life. Not in terms of money but, health, relationships, quality of time, beautiful places, relationship with god. And all the other beautiful richness that life brings.

Hey Captain! Just a suggestion - Could you summarise the points at end of video. I believe it will help people more in terms of retaining the knowledge in a better way (yes I know that we could pause the video and note the points along the whole video but people are lazy and summarization would help people feel much satisfied as the would get the feeling that they have invested there time well).

I’ve been wanting to travel the world and make videos for years. I kept putting goals in my way (need $100k invested, need $5k passive income, etc) that masqueraded as excuses for not pursuing videography. Two weeks ago I was fired from my corporate job at Amazon while traveling Mexico. At first it was devastating but after the initial shock, I felt free. I took this as a sign to go all in on KZbin and haven’t looked back since.
