I’m sure all of us stoners are able to relate to this guy in some extent. My advice, as someone who is able to have goals and self improve while also smoking everyday, would be to just keep it to smoking at night. That’s one things that’s really helped me, because smoking during the day can really mess up your productivity for the rest of the day, of course there are rare cases where the opposite is true, but for the majority of us, day smokes only result in lazy unproductive days. Also, if you keep it to mainly just nights it gives you something to look forward to and help you relax at the end of the day.

Thats the statement which made me realise that weed became part of my identity, yet I have so much more to offer. It became a daily thing which I’d do before bed and after waking up just to be ok with the monotony of life. Then I started to just fill in my time with useful stuff and slowly took out the weed. I do smoke from time to time, but I’m not spending 200€/week anymore on lowering my mental and physical health on the long run. Weed is nice and I like it, but it’s a too easy escape which will eventually make you waste so much time with nothing useful. In particular if you start identifying yourself as Stoner or what not, for me it was “weed wizard” as by my friends, the issue with that then is that you’re ok with that and instead of identifying yourself by who you really are with all those different aspects you limit yourself and your capabilities to something trivial as a guy that knows how to waste money, time and health.

I would like to say that for those who are looking to break from the weed trap there is a few things I did that helped a lot to stay away and self heal. This will be long. First of all just like the guy in the video I had terrible social skills before I smoked. When I was smoking this only made it worse. Everytime I was in a social situation I questioned everything I would say. I would overthink and not really be listening to what people said. When I was in social situations I realized my social skills deteriated each time which only made me question myself more. It's a viscous cycle that gets worse and worse. Confidence dropped, anxiety increased which led to depression, and the solution was more weed. So I questioned to myself, what can I do to re gain confidence, and happiness? I remembered the days when I was confident and questioned what I was doing other than not smoking. After all, when I started smoking I was still confident. And there were many people in the world who smoked everyday and were successful. And then it finally hit me. Personal growth. Yep, personal growth. The problem with weed is it makes you comfortable. It makes you comfortable with yourself and your life. It brings pleasure, and it makes it harder to do things that are "hard" like good habits such as excercise and cooking. I remembered I was terrible at having good habits but at my best just before I started smoking everyday I had lots of good habits, and even more importantly I was getting out of my comfort zone as much as possible. Practising new habits and getting out of your comfort zone helps you grow as a person. It sucks at the start but if your keep at it no matter what it is, eventually you see results. That was the key to improving my confidence, which brought me happiness and what stopped me being in my head and questioning everything. It was almost my purpose in life was to grow myself as a person. As a man, you need a purpose. I know it's corny but still. As someone who was young and had yet found my purpose, what I did to give me a purpose was self growth. I know how "become an alpha male youtube channel" bullshit that sounds but the one thing you will find in common with almost all stoner's who are not happy is they have no purpose, and they don't practice self growth.

Still I have to sometimes stop the daily use and control my addiction, because I start noticing side effects such as depression, tiredness, etc. I think it’s important to speak freely on these things and to be aware that nothing is only good or only bad, so knowledge is crucial. One thing I’d advise for new smokers or veteran smoker is to not smoke before sleep. It’s the worst time to smoke, since thc will impede the REM sleep phase and without it your body and mind will not recover well enough. What resonated with me was when he mentioned weed creates habits (laziness) that are hard to break even when sober. I’ve quit for about two months now and even though I feel much better, I still lounge around wasting time way more than I should because that’s what I’m used to. Nah bro if you want to stop it’s going to take discipline. Restrain yourself from smoking weed on certain days of the week. Example: don’t smoke during the week days and only smoke on weekends. During the week work toward your goals and what you need to do in the present such as school, work, and what ever it is you need to do. Also try to incorporate new hobbies in your life what ever you are interested in. It could be sports, reading, learning to play an instrument/ language, exercising, cars, and variety of other things man. Set goal and work towards them during the week, start of with small short term goals then make long term goals. Eventually you will build enough discipline to quit weed for good, and I’m not saying it will be easy because it’s not going to be easy. But it’s worth it. And if you don’t want to stop that’s ok just do it in moderation like I said only smoke on weekends and week days work on goals and things that need to be done to better you’re life. Hope this helped brother god bless 🙌🏾

I relate with a a lot of what you said. My three best tips: - Stop hanging around "friends" you smoke weed with, most of the time you just share the same addiction and don't like each other as a person. Stop smoking for a few weeks and you will see that hanging around them sober is just shitty and boring. - When I turned 20, I thought to myself that I'm already an adult and not a teenager anymore and that many people my age a few generations ago already built their own family. Imagine telling your children that you couldn't stop smoking weed because you are too weak. What kind of mother/father is that. You should act as a role model and if you don't stop now, they will think that being a stoner is completely normal because they grew up around DRUG ADDICTED parents. - Act how you would want your son/daughter (depending if you are m/f) to act. I don't think you want your children to be smoking weed... It's hard but it's worth it. If you don't stop NOW, when will you stop instead? And if you cannot overcome this little burden, then how will you be able to overcome bigger obstacles? Good Luck to everyone struggling!

hi, in your third dot point, "Act how you would want your son/daughter (depending if you are m/f) to act." You must have stopped smoking weed and moved on to something harder cause having a son or daughter is a 50/50 chance no matter what sex you are lol.

I started at 13, the habit I formed around the weed opened up the potential to try new substances (and regularly use on a daily basis) other substances as a young teenager. (nicotine, whippets, alcohol), and it's taken a severe toll on my mental and physical health. When experimentation becomes dependence, then addiction, it doesn't give you much of a choice to correct your behavior before it's too late. I was having fun and feeling good, so I didn't care nor spare no mind towards it. Not to mention the depressive and psychotic episodes from heavy substance abuse. (That comes later, don't stick around with drugs to find out.) It costs me relationships, my families trust, and plenty of money. My outbursts and senseless anger caused by my addictive behavior had really ruined many aspects of my day-to-day function. Everyone gets experimental, and that's OK. Just know what you're getting yourself into. Especially if you have a family history of substance use. Watch yourself. Love yourself. Take care of yourself. Kids are too young and still developing to know what full substance addiction is like.

I got lazy, always felt foggy in the brain, was angry without it, would have crazy anxiety, bad depression, couldn’t eat without it, cheated my entire way through junior year because I was in all advanced classes and my memory loss was and still is insane. I quit because I started hearing and seeing things that weren’t there and my last 2 times smoking weed I ate a shit ton of food and greened out both times because I kept having panic attacks during my high about greening out. It was terrible and I’ll probably never smoke again. I miss smoking with friends but it truly hurt me more than it benefited me. I’ve been completely sober for a couple of weeks now, not long but enough to notice a difference. I feel smarter and wake up less groggy and tired and am starting to get my memory back. I still go to parties and hang with friends that smoke but stay away from it and I’ll drink when I get the opportunity. I wish I would’ve never started tbh. I was too young.
