I'd keep them unpainted because to me that would be part of what makes it a vintage loadout. I feel like it once you paint it it's just a modded loadout that for some reason uses a bunch of old shells. (but it will be cool either way) (but don't paint it)

I remember working on a BBB a while ago, shortly after getting a Demolisher. with the AR removed / rebarreled or whatever, and the spring being upgraded, it can totally fire Demolisher Rockets. BBB plunger tube being the same size, and all. Mine fired them relatively well, at an angle. Best of luck with your project!

You should make the bottom section of the Defender a standard elite blaster and make the upper portion into an absolver for all of your modularity. Having the upper on really makes it look like could be a grenade launcher.

I say yes to the X-Strike paintjob, but reverse the colors. Orange main, with Black accent. Use a fluorescent orange and it will retain the vintage 90's vibe

A family friend had one of those sharp shooters when i was a kid. I'm about 80% sure it didn't have fins on the darts. Pretty sure it shot old school megas.

@@amysmart1765 it took the early version of the vintage mega dart, as I remember reading from Nerfcenter over a decade ago, referred to as "Type 1" darts. I can't remember if this only referred to the Sharpshooter 1 darts that had the fins on them or also included the yellow and red mega darts that did not have the fins. Anyways, the Type 2 megas that were released after the Type 1 darts did not have the range the predecessor did, but were reportedly more durable. I can't confirm that, since I myself never had Type 1 darts, only a few Type 2 darts.

I'm planning on making a blaster that has a modular hellcat afterburner, and it connects via XT60 connectors.

Hellcats for an afterburner? I would think something with a higher RPM would be better. I might be wrong though.

Lord RZRider I agree. I think hellcats wouldn't have enough RPM. Hellcats are usually used in full auto blasters as they have a very fast rev up time and that means more consistent range when spraying darts. Personally I would recommend 180s or MTB rhinos but it depends what your putting it on.

Torque rpm? Those are two different things. Anyways, for an afterburner setup, you usually want a higher torque lower rpm first stage and a lower torque high rpm second stage. The higher torque motors do most of the work, getting the darts from barely moving to ~110 fps. This take a lot of work and requires high torque, especially at a high rate of fire. Then the darts hit the afterburner. Higher rpm = higher fps, so you want high rpm motors for the afterburner. Torque, however, is less important because these flywheels only have to accelerate the darts from ~110 fps to whatever speed you want, usually only 30-40 fps more. This takes less work than getting the darts from 0-110 so you don't need as much torque. But you NEED rpm. Because the speed of the flywheels determines the speed of the dart.

Lord RZRider soz I was thinking of different motors. We nickname them hallcats but really there a cheap Irish alternative. If your putting it on a hyper fire then hellcats are probably the way to go. They should keep up with a modded hyperfire. Don't take my word for it though. Also are you upgrading the hyper fire motor or keeping in stock?

Be careful putting a larger plunger tube in the Defender T3, I tried following Drac's guide using a Big Bad Bow and it ended up ripping out all the screw posts when closing it back up.

If you're trying to do an all vintage or mostly vintage loadout, I think you lose something by repainting them, Since we clearly don't want the vintage blasters for their stock performance, we want them for their kickass nostalgialicious shells. Personally I find that classic early 90's nerf look very attractive.

a request/recommendation for a future episode: the ratchet blast, released in '97 as part of the cyber stryke line. it was one of the first blasters I ever owned as well as one of my favorites. unfortunately mine broke during a neighborhood war many years ago( the handle snapped off when I went to prime it)

I would actually suggest a third paint scheme entirely, that would encompass the 90's flair and feeling, but wouldn't be as stark as the X Force colors. May I submit to you... The 90's radical Rayven. You'll have to search Reddit for it, but I dare say anyone could argue that it isn't pure 90's and would suit all of the vintage blasters perfectly.

Personally I wouldn't waste the Defender T3 Arrowshooter's plunger tube on the pistol portion (unless you were going to replace the Arrowshooter's PT anyway). You can replace the pistol's PT with 3/4" thinwall PVC (nerfhaven.com/forums/topic/13908-dt3-modification/) Or upgrade to 1.25" PETG tubing or 1.25″x12" Tailpiece extension (www.lowes.com/pd/Keeney-1-1-4-in-Plastic-Straight-Coupling/1071635) Note you could also use these for a crossbow plunger tube replacement Or even use the Crossbow's plunger tube if you're replacing that: nerfhaven.com/forums/topic/22343-defender-t3-overhaul/ Oh and make sure you reinforce the spring rest on the crossbow shell. You might check out nerfhaven for some old tips.

Coop 772 also did four crossbows with new Infernals.Do the Screewreinforcement Mod (Look up Coop)because if not the crossbow wont survive Long(so it now) Also its your crossbow Paint it(but please clearcoat it.
