I never seen a landline phone of that style before. I've seen newer models with a screen, but those also have buttons. Physical buttons. My school has a system of landlines, and I believe the phones themselves are branded Cisco.

From what I can gather these phones are only issued to, and legally used by, those with disabilities, making them rather uncommon to see in the general public..

You're kind of lucky to get that because they regularly only give them out to the deaf and hearing impaired... glad you got it though. Based on the UI, it seems to run a light version of Android. The only thing that is ironic is that the keypad is pretty small for a phone for the hearing impaired. Also surprised it doesn't speak out the numbers when you press them.

While this is true,, anyone could buy the used ones on eBay.. But they're rather pricey.. The buttons thing I thought was ridiculous as well.. I was expecting there to be a large on-screen numeric pad for dialing.. The other thing that's ridiculous about this keyboard is it doesn't allow you to pre-dial and remove errors before picking up the handset..

Yeah true. Although I didn't know that since eBay restricts some items that aren't really meant to public use for sale on their site. For example, at my college, my psychology professors have said they want to get a hold of a psychology test to show us what one looks like in class, but they can't because they are professors, but not psych. doctors. And not just anyone can buy a cop car, fire truck, or ambulance with lights and sirens and decals installed on eBay.

This is also true,, but something of little value like this telephone is most likely not going to be regulated that closely.. There's really no harm that could come out of someone who's not impaired using this telephone..

Jordan, im not sure if this makes any sense to you but the 800 number that was on the display of the telephone was to the social security offices!!! Maybe this telephone was used in a social security office!!!

CaptionCall is federally funded by the FCC under the disability act for call equivalency. There is no cost to the person who receives a phone. There is not a monthly prescription charge. Ever. However there is certain paperwork that needs to be on file for the captioning to work. If you are using the captioning without those forms, you're going against FCC regulations. The end-user license agreement states that phone is the property of CaptionCall. I don't know where you got the phone, but the previous person who had that phone, should have returned it to the company. CaptionCall will pay for a free shipping label for the return of the phone.

Nice! If I had hearing issues (which I don't, I'm still pretty young) than I would like this phone!

I like this phone even though I don't have hearing issues.. It's a shame it's not designed for both people that have hearing issues, and those who don't.. The huge CID display is something I'd like for regular daily use, as well as the loud ringer and non-slip rubberized handset..

Just how loud is the ringer tone of the CaptionCall? Compared to a Uniden Loud&Clear?

I'm not sure.

Hi the captions are provided by real life people and that’s why it’s prohibited for people who don’t need the phone to use it. The service is free for registered users. We try our best to get all the words right.

I don't think so.. I'm not really sure how it works..
@jazziered1426 жыл бұрын
@@JordanU The phone needs to be plugged into a standard phone jack to get a dial tone in order to work. It will work on a MagicJack or VoIP system. It also needs to be connected to the internet either hardwired through the modem, or a wireless internet connection. Of course it needs to be plugged into an electrical outlet.
