My dude, I am so glad I found your videos. Much more confidence now to perform my own maintenance on things I’ve never done before. Just picked up a 2011 Xterra and I’m doing allllll the fluids fresh. I also appreciate your “failures” like the rear differential in this video. It definitely makes things more realistic to what many of us will likely encounter buying used. Cheers bud🤙🏼 PS, your exhaust replacement video is very intimidating lolol, my old one looks just as bad but will be giving it a whirl!

Hey thank you so much for such positive feedback ! and yes I am keeping it realistic just the way things are )) Good thing I did eventually took it out the rear plug had to buy new one and replace old one as well.. As for exhaust it was a pain for sure... but I made a mistake and bought cheap / didn't paint it.. so it only might last me 1 more year if so and I am in for another one again But this time I won't rush and i will paint the entire exhaust to keep it from rusting

Great public service video. A lot of people for not regularly change their engine oil. Even more people NEVER change their transfer case and front and rear differential oil.

On stock from factory Xterras no.. they all come only with R180 front diff.. BUT there are some people who install front diff M205 that is from Nissan Titan its bigger stronger . Good for off road and thigns like that .. is what I have now

No if it was changed at some point.. now if the car has over 100 thousands miles / km some people say its not good because it might wash away all the broken little particles in there that help trans work at that point.. You really need to check what is the color your trans how it looks .. and if it was changed at any point.. what I did with my truck ( it was not new had 150k miles one it ) I did simple drain and refill new.. and it works good

@@luisdelgado8750 it takes approximately 10.9 quarts so thats about 10 litters . . but I would start filling it up slowlly and checking dipstick from time to time. Also the car needs to be running and you should shift the gears few times each time before you check the level.. Unlike the engine oil thats how the trans fluid is checked

Try some WD-40 before breaking the bolts loose and give it some time to seep into the threads. Thanks for the video.

I've fallen in love with PB Blaster after trying it upon recommendation from fellow Xterra fans on Reddit. My method on really stuck bolts/nuts is to use my little kitchen butane torch to heat a bolt/nut, then spray with the PB. It's helping me on all the stuff still untouched from the factory after 150k miles.

Why do people not know the end of a 3/8 extension will take out those plugs. It's a 3/8 square.

You are right ! when they are 3/8 square, but in that case it was a hex but the new plug I got is a 3/8 square )) so next time I will for sure use a square )
