More patience than me lol… I wouldve probably stripped by cleaning rust only partially out … then I would’ve drained it after stripping the full plug , pulled cover off , but new cover , paint / coat with anti rust paint etc. Reinstall and fill …. Especially after you saw all the metal shavings on the front I would be curious to see the gear(s) and it would be a good excuse to do so … dont get me wrong I would probably try to remove filler bolt for a day or more before deciding to get new cover … thanks for the info , living in the northeast here (snow and salt winters) I now know what to expect , and will PB blast it all a day ahead of time when I finally get to this ..🤙🏼👍🏼✌🏻

Hey !! thank you ! I was very close on buying a new cover as well I had it in my shopping cart already as a backup plan .. if I wasn't successful with the bolt removal. It would be my next set. buy new one open up the diff and take it from there.. ad dealer they priced me for $140 for new cover but I found online for $90 .lol oh and yes PB bluster dose help alot just have to use it more then one time to be effective .

Chunks of dirt yeah you bet… The magnet is full of little metal parts that’s normal. Best tool to use is an breakbar without extension that helps because those plugs are challenging some times…😮

If you have a 2x4 then you dont have front differential and only have rear differential with the axle type c200

thats not dirt. its metal filings which is not unusual if you dont replace the oil frequently. Also you should replace that breather on the axel with an aftermarket breather kit. You will save your axel seals by doing this. The OEM breathers are defective and stop working after a while

I hope it wasn't too much of the metal fillings... as to the breather yes thank you for saying that I will have a video on that soon too ))) and I feel I did pretty well as I got all the parts myself for half the price of any kids on the internet ! so stay tuned ))

Two suggestions, soak threads with PB Blaster for two / three days before before trying to break loose suspected rusted problem nut’s, bolts loose. You did good with making the decision to use the hammer and make the 14mm work. The other suggestion is use some ANTI SEIZE on the first inside threads and very little RTV only on the last couple threads. It looks like this X has seen road salt and that makes for this type issue. When you do your suspension you will see what I mean. So remember the PB Blaster weeks before you take on that job. Good luck.👍

you absolutely right !! thank you for such good tips ! I did spay that bolt with BP blaster but only 2 times so day before and night before but for sure it was not enough lol and a little spoiler.. I am in the middle of big upgrade... and I been spraying all bolts for a week morning and evening and boy did that made a huge difference ! so video on that will be out sometimes this month

@@DIY_AUTO_PHOTO Actually, I subscribed to your channel because you have an Xterra. LOL, I am nuts on these vehicles, I have two of them, a Midnight Black 07 OFF ROAD with 180K on it and a Armor Gray 014 S with only 51K on it. LOL, but, I also have a classic 88 SR5 ext cab Toyota with 320K on it.
