Downloaded the beta - this had nothing (on the surface) that was of "interest" to me. Then I tried it. I copied a shoot I did recently at a race circuit with some "period" cars. WOW! Edit one and apply using match look to the others in the race. fantastic. I then applied the same to my first car from the next series - set this as the standard and rolled it out to the rest of the cars in that series. This is a massive time saver (or looked at alternatively allows me to apply much more time on the first photo to get exactly the look I'm after as it can be rolled out with minimal tweaking. I spent more time adding a nice border to all the exported photos (now if only that could be included in the export process...). Oh and encouraged by the quality and reliability of this feature - feels more like a release than a beta to me - I added some portraits (individual and group) to my test session and tried the AI people masking. Big time saving here. If only I had this release before the last wedding I shot I'd have day(s) of my life back.

@@numinoos okay so let's say for example you're doing the sky, so you could just paint on one section with the deep blue sky brush for example, then pick the gradient filter to give the whole sky the fall off after which you go to the luma range if you want to be more specific (kind of like how the luma and chroma sliders work in dxo). I loved yesterday’s demonstration and the new features. I still wonder, though, if there could be a faster to generate separate layers for eye, skin and so on. Always opening the selection list, ticking a box and then confirming it seems a bit cumbersome. I understand the flexibility you get with this approach, but how about adding some faster path? E.g. when you select the tick box it works like demonstrated, but if you click on the word “eye” it immediately creates the “eye” layer and leaves the box open? Then I could create 5 separate layers with 5 clicks. Just a thought.

Capture One has been on a roll lately and totally gets what to focus on in terms of AI (the latest crop-tool is a gift from god). The color match seems to be that version we all have been waiting for and could potentially kill all 3rd party solutions for Lightroom - let alone fiddling with different camera profiles. Most match tools up until now have been so-so focusing on exreme gradings (easier to trick the viewer) but since the color engine in Capture One is so advanced I reckon the matching can be both subtle and advanced: Question: Would this tool then allow for precise camera body/profile matching? For example if I want my Canons to look just like Fujifilm and so on? I am guessing yes?

What do you need for Landscape photography?
@barryj747819 күн бұрын
Wait until Black Friday. Last year perpetual licenses were on for 50% off and then you only have to upgrade when you buy a new camera. Subscriptions are a waste of money for anyone other than portrait and event photographers given the current company direction. I'm on 16.3 perpetual license and quite frankly feel I have missed nothing in the last year. If I take what I paid for my license and divide by 12 it's come out cheaper than a subscription and I still have the program to use. I want to support the company but it's a no brainer to go perpetual if the company doesn't want to support a wider range of photographers.
@Daniel_Zalman20 күн бұрын
You know, it's getting to the point where Photoshop is only needed for very high end retouching and compositing.
@barryj747820 күн бұрын
So the developers have taken "Copy/Paste" , added a few refinements and put it in a tool called Match Look. Sure glad I bought my copy of 16.3 because I've seen nothing in the past year that would make me wish I was on a subscription being a hobbyist landscape nature photographer. Capture One is now just geared towards the Event, Portrait and Wedding photographers which is a shame. A depth mask would have been great as well as better noise control and refinements to the healing brush. The Panorama and HDR tools are still so basic and glitchy that one ends up going out of C-1 to get good results. Why not fix these tools? So many times you add these preset type of things to another image and it looks like sh*t so you start tweaking it only to wish you had started from scratch. Also, it would be really nice to be able to intersect masks but if the portrait industry doesn't need that we'll never see it!
@JesseStarrPhoto19 күн бұрын
Event, portrait, and wedding photographers are by FAR the most common type of photographers, so it isn’t exactly surprising that C1 would focus on them… Hobbyist landscape photographers who use raw processing tools is an extremely small slice of the market unfortunately.

lol it’s a lot different to match look. You can grab a reference image from the internet that you like the style of and it will match the look then allowing you to go down the adjustments and make any changes or just to learn how to achieve that look. It’s a lot more useful than copy and paste with refinements
@barryj747819 күн бұрын
@@ChrisSallis Oh so plagiarize an image. Is that what you are saying? You'll take someone else's image from the Internet, put it on your computer and then electronically copy the settings and use them for your own images. I would say that that's a pretty grey area.
@barryj747819 күн бұрын
@@JesseStarrPhoto It may be, I'm not sure where you got your information from but their is also a lot of professional photographers in other genres too. And, many of them have voiced their displeasure towards the current direction C-1 is going. It probably doesn't help that many of the employees seem to do that kind of photography (portrait etc.) on the side. Like I said, it's a shame because I'm a long time C-1 user and I like C-1's way of developing images but find that now I'm no longer interested in supporting the company.
