From the late 1980s on, i visited and photoed Upper Antelope Canyon 4 or 5 times over 20+ years Owing to tourist pressure, the tribe has had to commercialize the visits and control access. Re tripods, they do not allow tripods on the regular tourist trips, because they move too many folks too quickly to allow tripods to slow it all down. However, they also offer, at higher fee, photo tours, which have far fewer bodies along to get in your way and let you use tripods. Also the guides have some special knowledge of photo options in the Canyon to assist you to get your best photos. Worth the extra charge. His photos here and my remarks are for Upper Antelope Canyon. However, you can get most of the effects and a lot less "supervision" by going to Lower Antelope Canyon (right across the road from Upper.) Access fee is also lower.

Thanks for the insight! Yeah, the photographer's tour was sold out the day I was passing through. It would've been nice to be able to shoot at lower ISOs with a tripod and have a little more time to take a breath and compose my photos. I'd love to go back and try the tour you mentioned and have another take on the canyons. Truly a magical place.
