Great stuff as always Derek! Just shot basketball last night and did it with my 70-200. I experimented with 70mm and the camera right down on the ground and pointing up at the basket. I was able to get some killer rebounds and even a dunk. Busted out the 14-24 (you read that right) for warm ups and stood right behind the basket and got some cool shots with that

I used the rf 85 f2 for basketball before upgrading to the rf 135. The 85f2 is a great lens especially for basketball. The only down side is it’s a macro and it hunts for focus a lot.

Yeah, I find if you can keep it from getting into that macro focusing the 85 works great!

Great photos Derek, thanks for the movie - 70-200 is my dream :) No I change body to R8 + 85 f2 and results are great. Using for my kids basketball games. Do you recommend any LR presets ?

Thanks for watching! The 70-200 is a solid lens! Also, I don't have any presets that I am fully sold on. I do have the FroPack 1,2,3 from Jared Polin(FroKnowsPhoto) and there are some SOLID presets in there. For Color, his Color Boomify and Skittles are a great start.

Great photos How do you do such a good job not getting noise. What are your settings ?
@DLivingstonАй бұрын
Shutter has been around 1/800. Always at f2.8 and iso is around 4,000. I also do some noise reduction in Lightroom.

@@DLivingston That's not very good, and makes your photos even more impressive... The best lit court I shoot in (basketball) is 1 stop brighter, love going there, the worst (volleyball) is 2/3 darker, I bitterly hate that place.

We luckily got better lights this year so there is no flicker and they’re whiter which I think helps. I also shoot one stop or close to one stop under and bring it up a tad in editing.
