Years ago, I lived in a two family duplex and the lady above me had three pet monkeys; two squirrels and a spider monkey. Priscilla was the name of the spider and she was a double for the one in your video. My neighbor would bring Priscilla down to visit from time to time and since I'm in a wheelchair, Priscilla loved to sit in my lap and I'd take her for a ride around our home. She was really sweet and smart and just love to sit back and enjoy the ride!!

I bet that was great fun to give Priscilla rides! Did she give you hugs too? Spider monkeys are so docile and will just chill like no other type of monkey will...they are an absolutely amazing species of monkey!

Jerry Carriera That's one of the reasons I love spider monkeys so much...they are so docile, and very affectionate by nature. In the wild, hugging is a form of greeting for spider monkeys, and they have been known to welcome a newcomer with a hug and offer of food. A behavior you won't see in most primate species. They live in groups of up to 40, but split into smaller groups of less than 10 to forage for food during the day, making it easier for everyone to find food (also known as fission-fusion). After the days activities are over, they converge in the treetops back into the larger group for the night. As they do, they often hug each other as a greeting then as well. They love to hug, which I think is so sweet :) You are very lucky to have gotten so many wonderful spider monkey hugs!!!

Arlynnia It made me sick last winter to hear of Brodi, the spider monkey was forced to be put down by the State of Ohio for rabies testing after he bit the hand of an auto salesperson. Sickening because he a valid rabies immunization certificate. What a tragic loss of a totally innocent animal!!

i love people who have monkeys tell you to not really get one or that they're really tough to have, etc. of course they aren't going to be an easy pet to have, they're a monkey. a wild or exotic animal. they're def. going to be a lotttt tougher to raise than a dog. however, he's a great owner & boo is sosooo lucky!

+Christopher Hernandez I think it really depends on the kinda monkey. Primates needs a lot of attention and you need time to spend with them. I have two squirrel monkeys, and once in a while I take care of my friend dog. If I have to compare one to the other, I find dog more demanding... Of course I'm not comparing with capucin or other kind, and this is just my own experience. But as the men tells in this video, I think if you really want to have a monkey, do LOTS of research, and you are better off with small monkeys like Marmoset or squirrel monkey, and definitely two of them, two is much more easy for you and much better for them.

Wow um do you know lots about monkeys or are you just guessing cause if you do know lots then thats cool my favourite animal has always been a Capuchin or a Marmoset mostly a Capuchin though. I have always been interested in monkeys and all that ape stuff… lol but so what would you say the best monkey as a pet is out of all the monkeys or would you not quite know…??

Pilotkisses said he has owned monkey's for 15 years so he knows what he is talking about. If you want to own a monkey the easiest to take care of is a Marmoset. They don't live as long and are smaller. Capuchin's and spider monkey's you have to dedicate your whole life to taking care of them. Otherwise they get aggressive and will hurt someone.

Any animal is a lot of work feeding playing keeping them cool warm leaving them home when you go on vacation keeping them clean vet bills any animal is like a baby you will have the rest of it's life but boo is so greatly taken care i wish i was taken care of like that LoL

EXACTLY.....You're not getting a pet, you're getting a new way of life. When humans adopt humans we have every intention of a lifelong commitment, the same goes for pets especially monkeys!

I met a married older couple shopping at Lowe's Home Improvement and they were both carrying small monkeys into the store with them. They shared with me how they cared for their little companions and how they provided for them and met their needs. I asked them what they paid for each of them. 4 grand each. The stores around here evidently didn't mind them bringing the monkeys along and shopping. I must say, this couple was obviously wealthy. I gather that keeping a monkey for a "pet" requires attention, commitment, financial security, a firm grounded existing relationship with someone else who understands the needs of keeping monkeys, and most of all, keeping company with them. Nobody told me when I got my horses at first, what the demands of keeping them were and the commitment that was required. I am still keeping horses because I am dedicated like that. Sadly, people sell off their horses and they end up in horrible situations. I admire you for being the type of human being that has all the admirable qualities that you have. The world needs more people who cherish the other "nations" we share the earth with.

I completely agree with everything you say about having a monkey for a pet, they are not really pets...they are more like a family member that stays young all of their life. Something that most people don't think of so the animal suffers in the end. :(

Do nnot get a monkey boo is behaving and gentle natured now but all monkeys when they hit puberty will become very aggressive and dangerous boo obviously was raised by humans since birth a 3 yr old monkey being put up for adoption is because the people who own him her can not train or commit it is not an easy job so get a puppy bunny or kitten as you see by how many dogs and cats are in shelters people do not give 100% in owning a pet a few do but responsible people do not purchase a pet if they dont have time to commit to there pet

I know this video is older because Boo was I only three but I watch all you do for Boo and it's amazing. I llove monkeys but they are too expensive to feed and they are smart so you have to keep them busy and entertained. I have been a dog and cat owner all my live. I re homer 2 animals in my life and that was due to sickness or divorce. When you take on any let it's a life long commitment. A dog can live 15 years depending on breed and cats if taken care of can live more than 20. They call I love with there families. It broke my heart both times I had to regime my animals. Both times I found good homes. I m as they were go I g to be taken care of and would not be killed. Even a goldfish deserves proper care. Thanks for always advocating not to own no keys unless your ready to make a life long co.mitment. There is a person who owns a baby monkey called max I wish you would talk to her. Let just say poor max is it "bad" he's a monkey sons expected to act human. Lots of love to Boo and you I have o one question, is there a meaning behind d Boo sticking his tounge out.

I got my White-faced Capuchin Mookie when he was a month old. He is now 26-years old and I have no regrets ; the bane of our existence are obnoxious kids and their parents who think our only function is to entertain them. I take him out in public all the time because he loves it. And he loves unwashed white mushrooms...for him it is the elixir of youth !
