⁴ᴷ⁶⁰ Car Assignment UPDATE: R46s Operating on the G Line!

In the next in a set of car assignment changes, R46s are now operating on the G line, in addition to the R68 and R68A fleet. These cars were the mainstay of G service in the early 2000s, as well as in the early 2020s, so it's neat to see them return to the line for now!

On the A/C/S/G yes most definitely this year but there will still be a handful of years left before they're fully gone from the system (Coney Island Yard too).

It might be even longer to back up the R68s R68As on the B D N Q W lines until the brand new R268/As open gangways and close ways to replace all the R68S R68AS.

A repeat in history when the G line was assigned to Jamaica Yard with R46s and R46s only back in 2010 and then Coney Island Yard alongside the R68s/R68As Good times.

I spotted an R46 on the G on January 23rd right as I got off the train I was on at Fulton Street. And I managed to catch an R46 G train the very next day, I couldn’t believe my luck.

You definitely had your wishes and it definitely came true. Give God the standing obaysoin and the glory. The holly spirit told me the R46S is gonna pop back up on the G line. Their is no way in hell they were gonna get rid of the R46S that quick . Hell no.

R46s will be retired soon in 2025 on all lines, though. They look pretty cool on the (G) too.

2027 the EARLIEST* Let's be real lol. The Base Order hasn't even been finished and there are still 20+ sets os R46s left in Pitkin Yard to replace. Then 56 sets of R46s in Coney Island Yard. At a rate of ~ 2-3 R211s coming into service each month it will be NO LESS than two years and then some to replace all the remaining R46s

Whenever Concourse gets their R211's(which would most likely be later this year) R68's will be displaced to Coney Island once all R46's from Pitkin are at Coney Island which may also be later this year. Whenever that happens it will most likely be a long process so late 2026-early 2027 will most likely be when the R46's retire

Another thing: Do any of you think they'd even consider New Rolling stock, if the Area didn't have all of these MILLENIALS AND OTHER CLOWNS, from way out on the other side of the U.S, Moving over here??? And not only that, they've went through GREAT LENGTHS, i mean LENGTHS, TO FIX UP BUILDINGS AND BUILD NEW ONES ,FOR THESE ( NEW) PEOPLE, AND NOT FOR THE ONES WHO'VE BEEN HERE OVER 20 YEARS, and STRUGGLING, TO GET NEW HOUSING!!!! Why would transit send CBTC active equipment to work on non-CBTC enabled lines? The QBL has first dibs on any compatible equipment.

No. Some R160s have been reassigned to the E, F, and R routes as others are OOS for repairs and whatnot.
