Car Blocks Streetcar, Car Stuck @ Redlight On Cincinnati Streetcar Tracks, Cincinnati Bell Connector

Street car blocked by car in no stopping zone. Cincinnati Bell Connector streetcar has one problem right after another. The Cincinnati streetcar/tram was running late due to a parade and the first trolley had a car blocking its track. The driver stopped way past the line for the redlight and that prevented the trolley car from being able to make a turn. Cars blocking the tracks are a common problem here. I also rode the trolley and filmed the ride and you can see how close it comes to buses and other trucks. The bus in this video is only a couple inches from the side of the trolley. They were trying to get ridership to increase and they proposed making the street car ride free. I thought it was free until later that night I saw on the news that they are having problems getting people to pay for the rides. Filmed March 28, 2019. Thanks for watching! We have trams in my home city, Nottingham England. They are pretty good but only work for the best on reserved sections of track with no other traffic. In the 15 years they have been running there have been some bad accidents, how a car driver can't see a tram coming is beyond me! Oh and fare evasion is a huge problem here. Love the video, keep up the good work.

@@dsmith9964 Forty years ago when I was living in the area, it was their famous plate chili, usually with beans, and cheese over spaghetti. Not everyone liked onions. I think the onions depended on the area of the city you were in.

That town is beautiful! We have something similar here in Austin tx, BUT it is only an accordian style bus. They call it Metro Rapid. But is only a long bus, No rail and does not run on power lines. But our transportation system is talking about getting this type up and going. Won't be for a while because we already have metro light rail system.

lightrail in Phoenix, Az look exactly like streetcar there, interior slightly different, but exterior is almost the exact same, i think the green or aqua or whatever that color is, is just a shade darker than Phoenix though. Remarkable

Hi JT from Pennsylvania. I think I once told you that I’m the streetcar fan in the crowd. So here’s some streetcar info you you. Streetcars don’t rest and get maintained in the engine house, rather it happens in the maintenance facility, also formerly called the car barn. The person who drives the streetcar is the operator, formerly called the motorman. No engineer or conductor. The Cincinnati streetcar line was never designed to make money. Any such talk is foolish prattle. No city public transit operation in any city anywhere in the world makes a profit. Not a single one!! Thus virtually every transit system is operated by public authorities with massive input of public (taxpayer) money to cover the losses. The Cincinnati streetcar is designed to circle though and around the central business district to provide shoppers, workers, and tourists an easy and fast way to get around the downtown area....and thus to attract more people into that area from the suburbs. The street track switches are controlled electrically by the operator as the car approaches, so they are set for the correct direction at that time. Hope that helps. It's basically the same issue in Media Pa on Septa Trolley Route 101. Drivers expect the trolley to maneuver left or right like a car. But of course it has to stay in its tracks. even parked cars are an issue and trolleys just Squeeze through. You could film that there someday. Line ends on State Street at Orange St. It's 1 block north of Baltimore Ave.

Street cars would be great if it wasn't for the rest of the cars. If you park on the tracks, they can't just go around you. I do try to ride then whenever I can. The system in Houston is pretty nice. It's cheaper to park out of town and take the metro in. Hopefully the line in Cincinnati will get more popular and expand.

Well, of course they're having trouble getting people to pay for the rides. I, for one, saw no clear indication of where to pay for them to start with. I used to live there but I only got to go downtown a couple of times. I think the streetcar was barely up and running when I left to move back to Cleveland.

I just had to ask but how do they know if you have paid? I is a shame if they don't go north to the hospitals and zoos. Also they needed a East to West Route Like to Harrison and East Gate. It could go to lots of area that has heavy traffic or people going to work OR IT ALL WILL FAIL.

I like the idea of streetcars and light rail transit, but I don't care for the design(s) of some of the vehicles. I know the operator has to sit somewhere, but the entire front and rear cone on either end is dedicated to the driver's compartment, so it is sort of "lost space" as far as room for passengers. That's a lot of "overhang" at either end of the vehicle, the trailing end which isn't used at all when the operator is "up front". I'm not a vehicle designer, but I'd like to give my ideas and input to those who do design these things on how to make better use of the ends with some design changes. And yeah, lots of people out there who just should NOT be licensed to drive a car.

They have been trying for years to bring light rail to Tampa FL. What these experts fail to realize, is that we are so spread out, light rail won't work. We do have a short street car system that has limited ridership.

I remember when Hamilton County prosecutor, Joe Dieters, was arguing against building the streetcar. It doesn't really go anywhere, except the immediate downtown area, & some of the worse neighborhoods around the city. He compared it to the amusement park ride in the movie, Jurassic Park. Take the passengers to the hungry predators. Another boondoggle, like the Freedom Center. But hey, Cincinnati declared itself a "sanctuary city".
