Scotty I'm not saying your wrong because you're not but what I will say is all cars have problems. Now one thing that all cars these days have is electronics and I'm sure you'll agree they are under engineered and need to be worked on more than they should be. However cars with combustion engines and transmissions have that to be worked on and the electronics as well so it's a double whammy of junk where as electric cars are primarily just that so it's hard to say which one is better. I own both, everything from an 03 suburban to a VW TDI and a model 3 and the one that cost the most money to own is the TDI because of maintenance expenses so I wouldn't say Tesla is the worst thing out there. Probably European cars with combustion engines are by far the most expensive in my book for recalls and maintenance. What's your thoughts?

Here, in England, station wagons were always call 'estate cars', or simply estates; another rare name was 'shooting brakes'. Most of the cars that I bought were estates, because of the carrying capacity. My current one is a 17-year old Volvo XC70 auto, which I bought new. As a kid, if your family didn't have a station wagon, they had a large 4 door sedan. In many respects the station wagon was the most PERFECT vehicle ever made. Bullet proof V8s and three speed automatics, great visibility, dad went to the lumber store and could put in a 4x8 sheet of plywood, floated down the highway and great cushy seats, fold away rear facing third row seats for the kids, rear window that opened and low loading floor. We had seat belts but never used them. Just a great all around vehicle and pwople really loved them. Pure Americana! Gosh I miss them, a lot. The KING of the station wagons. Some say the Chevy Caprice or Ford Grand Marquis but for my money it was the Buick Roadmaster! Must have weighed 7,000 pounds.

A lot of the tesla recalls I have seen are software issues that can easily be fixed over air like the boom box and rolling stop. They are just pointless recalls really anyway. My buddy has starlink, he is a huge gamer so likes really fast internet, he loves it. Most people that buy teslas don't care as much about the little quality issues as they do about the innovation.

What percentage is a lot to you? One quick glance at Tesla recalls shows this below : none of them are software related there Recall notices were issued in 2017 and again 2018 regarding the Takata exploding airbag inflators that, in the event of airbags deployment, could send metal fragments into the passenger compartment risking injury to the driver or passenger. The vehicles affected include all 2012 and 2013 Model S sedans totaling 17,846 cars. As of April 2018, the completion rate for this recall stood at 43.1 percent. More recently, Tesla recalled 2012-2016 Model S cars equipped with Bosch steering racks. Corroded aluminum bolts connecting the power steering gear assist motor to the gear housing may fail, causing partial or complete loss of power steering assist. No completion rate date is currently available. In 2017, Tesla issued two recalls. The first involved 2016-2017 Model X vehicles regarding a faulty second-row seat latching mechanism. As of May 2018, the completion rate for the 4,582 vehicles involved in this recall was 79.7 percent. The second recall involved 2016-2017 Model S and Model X vehicles. An improperly manufactured internal gear in the electric parking brake assembly may fail, causing the parking brake to either freeze up upon release or fail to hold the vehicle adequately when applied. As of April 2018, of the 31,472 vehicles affected, some 74.3 percent had been repaired. In 2015, nearly 60,000 Model S cars were recalled due to possible improperly secured front seatbelt mechanism. As of April 2017, the completion rate for this recall was 93.1 percent.

Scotty man, you’re the best mechanical sound automotive KZbinr in my opinion. It has been a pleasure watching your videos and learning about ways we can fix our automobiles. Yes, I’m a lucky guy because I’ve stuck mostly to Toyota products since 1999. The LC 80 series being my first purchase then. And now I have Toyota Mark X ‘ 06 JDM 2.5 VVTI V6 bought second hand in 2013, Toyota LC Prado 120 series TX ‘05 model JDM bought in 2014 and my 1994 80 series JDM. I don’t want to jinx anything, but apart from regular oil changes with filters, I’ve been very happy with those choices. Now, I want to upgrade to the 150 series Prado soon, replacing my 120 series. While keeping the other two. Hope I come across clean 150 series.

The majority of Tesla vehicles recalled was getting the Boombox feature removed via software update because the NHTSA decided having a megaphone on your car was dangerous. If your Tesla has a mechanical issue, you take it to the service center where mechanics fix your problem. You don’t wait for a software update when your bumper is broken, obviously. If Starlink is too expensive or too slow, all you have to do is not buy/use it. Ukraine is very grateful for Starlink at the moment, btw. I have no idea what this old man has against Elon Musk, but his arguments in this video are pretty bad.

I bought Starlink for my RV. Internet anywhere. I often drive the RV to where the cell phone doesn't work. With Starlink on board I can call from anywhere now. I'm seeing 200 Mbps. Love it. We drive the Tesla along with the motor home when we go camping. Towing it would be stupid as it came with unlimited free charging from the Tesla charging network. Charging stations along every highway across the nation. The Tesla is a blast to drive and costs way less than constantly fueling up and repairing the Mercedes SUV we used to drive. Maintenance on the Tesla is wiper blades, wiper fluid ... looks like the brakes will last forever. Yeah, they fixed a few parts in the front end for free under warrantee. So far that's it in two years. Not sure what you're all fired up about.

Hey Scotty, greetings from Russia (not winning any popularity contests, I know). I'm looking into buying a second-hand Geely Tugella, powered by a 2.0L Volvo engine and an 8 speed automatic transmission manufactured by Aisin. Do you reckon it's a good idea? I don't want to spend my hard earned cash on an endless money pit.

Hi Scotty, I been watching your video for a long time, I have a quick question for you. Which one will you pick? 2021 Lexus IS350 Fsport or BMW M340I X Drive? and why?

my Tesla model S MY2015 with 120k miles (190k km) never been in service for a component failure. So only a stupid mechanic who doesn't understand the modern world can wrongly call the owners of these cars stupid. And regarding recalls - I'd rather go to a recall event than have a car that the manufacturer forgot to support at the time of sale.
