I have watched nearly all your videos and like our friend below, my attention was initially drawn by your Cattledog. 3 years ago, my 15 year old Blue Heeler passed away and I think about him every day. I got so interested in your “rooftop” tent that I bought one today. I will drive up to Bend in a few weeks to pick it up. You are a great spokesman for their products. Your videos are outstanding, both content and quality. Keep up the great work.

10x10 is the one I have and its a great tent and I don't have any complaints either, its just more than I want to deal with for one and two night trips. Really finding a place to put it is the only pain. Jason

My winter set up includes a folding floor bought at Walmart for 50 bucks but before laying that down I place one of those reflective blankets in the corner where my cot or mattress will be placed. So far I haven't had the need for a heater in my four person tent. When the Temps drop below 30 I drop my military poncho over my sleeping bag. Winter camping is my favorite.

The tent is nice but definitely would be a bit much for the style of camping I see you do on your channel, moving from day to day, but for longer trips especially in cold weather it is really nice. Jason

I agree that it’s a nice tent. It wouldn’t work for me as I like to use my truck during the day. So I’m better off with a base camp style setup. Love the dogs as usual lol. Cheers mate and happy trails

Glad it could be of some help, they both have there positives and negatives you really have to decide which one will suit the type of camping you do most often. That is why I use the RTT most times, a few times a year I will do long trips, but I camp for one or two nights every weekend so the RTT makes more since for me, but since I do own both tents I just pick the one that suits the trip. Thanks for the tent video. I know I’ve been one of them asking about your Kodiak. I bought the smaller size for me and my American Bulldog and it eases some of the sight problems. When I bought it I lived in the El Paso desert region and used a 5 gallon bucket evaporative Cooler I made with battery and solar power, it cooled the days down and with the 4K ft elevation the nights were comfortable. I live in Austin now and that cooler doesn’t work because of the humidity. I’m afraid with our 100+deg summers the nights only cool to the 80s an air conditioned trailer is the only option for 5 or 6 months. Winter, spring and fall I still use the tent.

Good to compare the pros and cons of both camping systems your friend's Kodiak canvas seemed spacious and I noticed he was able to get a cot in there. My advice is to take regular doses of that sore throat tonic prescribed by Dr. Pendelton LOL ATB

Alright! Enjoyed seeing the Kodiak I also have a 10X14. Good talking points on the rooftop vs the Kodiak. The rooftops always win for convenience and ease of setup/takedown portability etc. I do understand why you like your rooftop so much...they work. Thanks for posting the vid.
@CLGravy7 жыл бұрын
Andrew W., I had a RTT last year. Used it maybe 4 or 5 times last spring on my frontier. I actually sold it and went with a Kodiak 10x14. We do more stationary camping for a week or so at a time. plus, going camping with a family of 4 and getting stuck in a rainstorm with a RTT sucks. Can't drive your truck anywhere and your stuck sitting inside a tiny space.

Yeah, for me the RTT wins out most of the time, I think the Kodiak is a great tent but just too cumbersome for weekend camping for just me and the dogs, in fact I had to talk Matt into bring his. As I mentioned in the video it really comes down to the individual their specific needs. There is no perfect setup for every person and every situation. Thanks for the comment. Jason

Love your videos! Makes me want to get out there and camp more. I have the kodiak 10'x14' flexbow vx love the triangle windows on the sides its an amazing tent. I have the same buddy heater too works great, I take the big 5 gallon propane tank with me it works on my Coleman stove too. I will take the cabella cot tent too turns into a great lounge chair by the fire with a shot of southern comfort whisky:) Just to let you no, whisky great in coffee to:) just to flavor. I do recommend getting the global sun oven, just amazing oven on those sunny days. Just bought the solo bon fire just an amazing fire Pitt. It puts out very little smoke and its portable. Take care and thanks for sharing your adventures. Ps: I'm going to get some of that Pendleton whisky!

Greg, the Kodiak is great tent and offers a lot of space which awesome on longer trips. I just changed out my hoses and switched to larger tank that sits in the bed of the truck and added a splitter so I run my Coleman cook stove as well. Tried it last night while I was out, worked awesome. I make a drink I call Whiskey Moca, you will see it in some of my videos, it is my favorite on a cold night. Jason

I’m following u from a while now.. i was likely decided for a rooftop tent, just recently thinking to go with a 10x10 kodiak tho.. 1) I don’t have a garage to storage the rooftop at the moment, 2) usually i go camping alone which to setup the tent on the bed rack i would need 2 person, 3) you can’t change clothes or cook your breack fast in a roof top tent as you just showed us and 4) PRICE , even paying it in canadian dollar a 10x10 will cost me about 700$ , a good quality rooftop will cost at least 2500$ thanks for the video !
