Love Gruber humor. Time will tell if humor becomes fact. Or some hybrid 😅 outcome like Jay Leno's theory - ICE replaced horses. However, today, there are more horses than before they were replaced.

To add, don't think Mr. Leno means there will be more ICE cars than today. Just that EVs would meet daily needs and ICE will be for weekends, recreation, etc. Much like horses today.

With hundreds of millions of ICE cars made, although most are sold for scrap, it will take a long while for EVs to catch up. As for sales of EVs, I expect by 2028, 50% of new sales will be EVs. Just so much better in every way. Still, there are always holdouts who don't care about performance, lower maintenance, lower fueling costs, or the environment and will always want to be behind the times!

If EVs had a comparable infrastructure and were as affordable as ICE vehicles the governments wouldn't have to force sales via subsidies and incentives. I like EVs and nearly bought a Tesla this year but after a lot of research, I decided against it.

I am very aware of the age groups passionate about ICE vehicles. I am after all from that generation at 72 years old and was inspired by all things ICE. But I am also a realist, aware that a continuation of fossil fuel transportation will accelerate the possibility our grandchildren may not have a habitable planet, or one that has drastically changed.

The younger demographic of enthusiasts has moved from in person auctions to bring a trailer online. I’m personally looking forward to a dip in value for the boomer classics. I look forward to picking up a buick y job and old Lincoln continental like the one jfk got shot in.
