Don’t know how you stay so chilled. The frustration of not being able to do anything. I was thinking about backing up with the Tedder running, it didn’t work well at all ☹️. So fast to go from small fire to full field burn amazing

Your a credit to farming Joe, an amazing attitude. Just soldier on no matter what 👍 I mentioned earlier in your live feed about maybe filling your slurry spreader with water during this scorching weather, if a field fire happens again you could get a head start putting it out before the brigade arrives. Great video tho Joe, keep smiling 😊

Lost a baler a couple years ago and ever since we have a full tanker of water on whatever block of land we’re working on. Looking at making up weight block that will carry a couple hundred litres of water with a pump powered off a spool this winter too.

This summer has been a wake I think for us in the U.K. I would be kitting every farm vehicle with a fire extinguisher. Couple of farmers out my way were running 500L tanks on the front end full of water. And the sprayer filled with water linked to a hose they could aim. They had what could have been nasty fires out before the fire service even arrived.

Perhaps get a water bowser with a sprayer like some major road construction sites use to keep dust down, on stand by when there's dry hay or straw in the fields. No such thing as spontaneous combustion at these temperatures, must have been arson.

Are you sure someone is not out to get you because that small area of burning was highly suspicious and it started in that area again, I don't know but maybe taking notice of cars etc. around the farm and maybe some cameras would be an added security. Have a better day Joe and crew. :) :)

Half the problem with water tankers by hay fields are, that as soon as the fire takes hold, a bit of wind can take a fire out of control before one has had a chance to get the bowser near the fireFire can spread faster than a horse can gallop, 30MPH with a bit of wind behind it. The sad thing is also all the prep. work, laying the field for hay before hand from chain harrowing to fertiliser before hand. All I can say, I hope you are trouble free for the rest of your harvest.
@johnnytyrrell7060
@johnnytyrrell7060 Жыл бұрын
You need to have your slurry tank full of water wit a splash Plath on it ready to go when its so hot and dry and then you have a chance of stopping it spreading.

You and Olly both need to ride around with fire heaters in the cab. A bit of rubber may bolted to a broomstick. You can put out a fair bit of flame with them but you shouldn't risk your safety and you did the right thing today by leaving the field when you did. As for the car accident all remained shiny side up and everyone walked awa. That has to be good outcome from a potentially deadly incident. Take care and live for tomorrow
