Thanks to both of you. Brain for allowing us a little camera time and Mike for being respectful to the situation and not running in and sticking the phone in everyone's faces asking to many obvious questions. A breakdown like that is a big deal and it's good to see you both dealing with it and moving on. Minor blessing maybe, Brian got to try the red brand and spend some time with his brother :)

There is always a silver lining when something bad happens. A tractor fire during harvest would be devastating, especially when harvesting canola. It is better this happened during seeding when there is nothing to burn. Now, his tractor will be fully repaired and in good running order come harvest. We all wish you and your farming family the best Mike, thank you all for helping to feed the world.

@Andy-ix2ox6 ай бұрын
John Deere not too expensive to fix? You obviously never owned a John expensive, depending on how much damage was caused by the fire it is not going to be cheap and could easily be nasty. However on the bright side it looks like they are going to have a harvest this season and with the size of their operations it will pay for an awful lot of repairs or a few new machines.

@Andy-ix2ox yep, I owned john deere's.

@@danadams8718 I still own them but I am enough of a realist to know that they are not the only or for a lot of applications the best machines for the job, I was just at the highland show in Scotland and I am seriously considering buying one of the new 6M185 to replace a mf 7718S that needs to be moved on but it will be decided on cost and not colour, I realised decades ago that none of the brands value my loyalty so I decided I was never gonna buy a brand, I was going to buy a product and it has been a pretty good stance from the point of view of value for money ever since. None of them are cheap to repair but I find that JD are inclined to really take the p€&s when it comes to parts, anyway in comparison to the Mitchell’s operation we are only Micky Mouse operators but I suspect most people would feel the same.

I had John Deere tractors my whole life and our big case tractors out pull out perform our deers to the point where we have no more Deere large frame tractors. The case pulls harder with less power. Better transmission less fuel burned just but I have not driven the new Deere large frames yet. Hopefully we will soon.

Never have i ever heard something similar from any big farms, Deere has the absolute market on europe on big frame tractors for a reason and the biggest farms on the world also, dont know about what generations you are talking about but in terms of pulling Deere has the monopoly since the release of the PowerShift and 00 series tractors in the late 90's

I see a lot of Quadtrac,s on the big farms in Eastern Europe… But I agree not so many Magnum’s as r8 Deere’s. Fendt 9, 10 series are also very popular.
@melvd34846 ай бұрын
@@yester8039 Why does being the market leader in general tractor market mean to build the best large 4WD or Quad tracked tractors? For many years Deere even did not have a competitor to the Quadtrac so I would suggest there are much more red quad tracked tractors out there than green. Furthermore Mike mentioned in the past that the gearbox of the 9R(X) is absolutely no competition to the Steigers because it shifts so bad and slow. And the 9620 RX was not able to pull the Bourgault better than a Fendt 1167 with CVT. The 9RX also lost the Protill drag race against the Fendt, also the Fendt has 50 hP less.
@yester80396 ай бұрын
@@melvd3484 im not talking only articulated, the 8r series JD just blows out of the water any big row crop tractor while even fendt has surpased CASE and NH in recent years, the quad tract is probably CASE's best product but still will be outperformed with the new 9 series JD with thr 900 hp engines
