My name is Arslan and I've been living in vehicles for a few years. This episode will show you the worst case scenario of car living in my entire experience. It was a big hit on me mentally and financially. Hope this gives an honest idea about what is it like

Hey guys, just wanted to clarify somethings. I was quoted $7k to replace the engine or $4k to fix the current problem. But the issue is, the car has 200k miles and the mechanic said that since the car is old and the engine might have been misused by previous owner, I am risking other parts of the engine failing, as well as the transmission failing. In my mind, it's not worth putting another dollar on a car that is worth $9k. I will start searching for a new car soon. Why did I escape Nevada? I had very bad vibes from everything that happened to me on and off camera. I'm trusting my instincts on this one! Next video is Saturday 7AM EST ❤

That sound more then a rod knock then a lifter because due to lack of oil or low oil and the rod bearing will worn out causing it to make the knocking sound . Lifter sound much lighter like a small "TICK" noise.

On the contrary, we like seeing you overcome how small the car is and how extreme the challenge is to successfully cook/sleep/live in it. I am almost 82 years old, and my experience is that things happen for a reason even if you can't see what it is. I have had what seems to be disasters in my life that turned out to be magnificent blessings. Sometimes it takes 10 years, sometimes 50, sometimes you just can't put your finger on it. But every experience shapes who you are. Who do you want to be in 50 years? I live in a house. They cost money to maintain. So do cars, and they wear out faster than houses. And houses never run into another house on the road . . . . My point is that living in this world has its expenses; it just does. Things couldn't get any worse? You could be old and sick and not speak the language and still dealing with this same problem. Take heart, you will get through this and your next issues too, just like the rest of us.

Yeah, you just need to take a day to hear different mechanic's attitudes on fixing it. I found a guy who had no problem repairing my engine seals for cheap. Had to leave my car with him for a week but he was honest and didn't want to overcharge. He kept my car running until it was 25 years old. Even then it was just a matter of physical exterior issues when I traded it in.

Wow, you do have a wonderful problem solving mind, which will help you so much in life. Attitude is key, but still, what a tough unexpected situation to be in. I wonder how much a new engine costs, you have the perfect build out and size in the Suburban, wouldn't a new engine be the best answer? I don't like to see you struggle. I think anyone who does is possibly just jealous that you have the fortitude and courage to do what you do. Yes, I do believe things happen for a reason, have witnessed that throughout my life. I had such high hopes for you and was excited to see you in Nevada, I made the same move recently. I have to disagree though, I wouldve fought and got things fixed with the car in Nevada like some others mentioned and not fled to New Jersey. It seems like this was rushed and not thought through, weve great mechanics and options here in Nevada, especially where you were in Vegas. Burning $2000 is crazy for shipping a car in that status. Things happen and as adults we find solutions and dont let things set us back and hinder our progress. The easy route is rarely the way to go. @CarolinaCarolina-ph9mx
@CarolinaCarolina-ph9mx Жыл бұрын
I was surprised he spent $2,000 just to ship his vehicle back, plus the airfare and rental stay in Florida. That was hefty chunk of money, and could have been put towards repairing the vehicle with potentially only another grand or two, and then back on the road. He could have purchased a cheap tent, then stayed in a local camp ground while waiting. If he had sold the vehicle right off and gone home, that would have made more sense than this route. Plus, even if boththe motor and transmission needed replacing, those suburbans vehicles can go 300-400k or more, so could be a worthwhile investment - and cheaper than a newer vehicle that could just as easily end up with the same problems.

@@joinjen3854 120 degrees? Eee, no! Okay, tent out of the question, but some hotels rent by the week for about $200-300. Not the greatest places, likely, but a room closer to the hotel office might be safe enough for a short stay until the vehicle had been repaired. And, much cheaper than what he ended up doing. Even if it ended up being both the motor and transmission, he would know he was good for 100k or more. If he buys a different vehicle, he will have that worry - and expense - just waiting to happen again. Frankly, that's just the way it is with vehicles, you just bop along from one bunch of repairs to the next until you move on to the next vehicle - to do the same thing all over again.

we are suspecting that the previous owner did not do proper oil changes, and I had to pay the price. I always do full synthetic every 5k miles. as far as engine idling, I did that with the Camaro for many months and it had no effect (knock on wood). my thought is that semi trucks run their engines 24/7 even when their sleeping at rest areas, why can't I do that too? @@solarcampercar It's possible the semi-trucks' engines are built differently than cars/SUV's/etc, allowing the trucks to be able to idle 24/7, and not run down/stop working. Just a guess but it's possible.

@@solarcampercar Bro if you got 200,000 miles out of your previous vehicle that is good because that's really all they last. Shit every 100,000 miles is really 120.000 miles & you had 200,000 miles that's really like 240,000. Good luck on your new vehicle can't wait to see it however just remember that 10 straight hours of idle time is 300 miles so bro 300 miles × 30 days is 9000 fucking miles a month just in idle time so you would have to change your fucking oil every 3 weeks lol love you bro.

@@solarcampercar If I were Elon, would rather give you one of the new cybertrucks, that rolled off the assembly line. Nothing could beat the good publicity😊. You could also acquire a low mileage M3 real wheel drive(std. range plus) with the LiFePo4 battery. If you do endup with a M3, I could send you two 65W ultra flexible CIGS solar panels for free(incl. shipping),to cover the roof. Will provide extra 130W in sunny weather, while cutting down on cabin heat(and could potentially offset sentry mode power drain). Apart from that will give the M3, a stealth non-solar look. I’m sad. I remember when you were here in Denver. I was looking forward to see how your time in Utah would go. I probably would have compared the cost of returning to Jersey and the cost of renting short term. And putting a new engine in the SUV. You feel like it better to go back then you have to go with that. Good luck. I’ll be looking for you again.

It depends on your tolerance for hassles. As you get older you may find it is not worth the hassle and find a vehicle with the least hassle, and travel to the states with the better vibes. Depends on what happens. Some bad things can happen anywhere whereas others are because of a particular reason. So I don't think everything happens necessarily for a reason, just some things. Everything has to be analyzed, to a point, so you can continually improve your life.

I don't like seeing anyone struggle. I like seeing you survive under unusual circumstances that you chose for a reason. And I like that you are open about when you are doing fine and when you are not, when you food came out good and when it did not. Oh, I laughed so hard to myself when I watched the video where the men were slowing to look at you. I used to live near a woodsy park that also had paths used for other things than hiking haha. I would walk those paths with my dog off leash. I was not worried about anyone bothering ME. I don't know why it didn't occur to me at the time that my large dog running off the path and through the bushes may have nearly given someone else a heart attack by her sudden appearance.
