i watched a couple of videos today on this....and one was yours. It worked PERFECT. Took the hood badges off of my 2005 Chevy 2500. Used Goo Be Gone and worked great....it smells citrus. Put the new badges on and I am PLEASED beyond measure. Used fishing line.... Works great. No heat gun. Thanks again Boss.

I've just started watching these videos as I lightly update a new (used) bmw I just bought. One question, why use dental floss in lieu of fishing line? For a guy that appreciates the granular details of this stuff (which is useful, imo), I would think fishing line would be a go to for removal of this type of badging. Anyway, useful stuff. Appreciate the time and effort to share your knowledge on YT.

They sell "label remover" sprays a lot of places. After removing the emblem, simply spray some on there to dissolve the glue, and wipe it off with a microfiber towel. Always worked well for me, only takes a couple of wipes to get the glue off. The eraser tool is probably better though, and safer for the paint

For removing badge decals from painted plastic, do you still recommend using heat or is there a different technique for painted plastic?

Darren, is there a way to tell if the emblem is "riveted" into the panel it is on" for example; I wanted to take the emblems off my friends's car until I found out when I started taking them off they were literally anchored on the car, now there are two holes in the panel. Just wondering if there was any easy way to tell before trying to start taking the emblem off, thanks.

Hey Darren, great videos! If the Rapid Remover runs down onto the chrome door strips, will it loosen or soften the adhesive on those?

i think that that line is from the original montage they push the badge pretty hard on the paint, maybe the hard part hits the paint before they release it

My 1992 chevy s 10 badge are still on the truck.but one side is start to slowly come off. Not sure I really want to take it fully off. Could I just clean under the modeling as you sayed in video and put tape back on and see if it wants to stick to the old paint. Hope to hear back from you. I hever took off moldings off before

Hey Darren. I want to replace my Chevy emblems with black ones. I don't have an eraser tool, my question is, on the tailgate can I be as abrasive as I need to since it will be covered up anyway by a new emblem. If not what would you recommend.

Now I finally know what you mean by shadows from the emblems.. I just did this to a Mercedes ML320 and it sadly has the shadows after it, and there is nothing I can do, I tried polishing it, and went more and more agressive and even tried wet sanding, sadly not working.

Simon Bach that's because the rest of your car faded. You have to remove badges on a fairly young vehicle

try using 15 lb test fishing line. works like a charm, at least it did for me.

Rubbing alcohol with a qtip around the edges works the best 70% rubbing acohol, no heat gun took me 10 minute's to take off GMC, and SIRERRA . No dental floss needed, using a qtip to get it down around the edges. dose not hurt the paint at all

Not on them emblems I've removed. I think you would just waste a clay bar. That 3m eraser is the real deal, a bit expensive but well worth the cost if you're detailing on the side or full time.

Hey Darren. I just bought an 02 Acura RSX type S from my dad. It's a great car, but it has been severely neglected. I have watched many of your videos and used many of the recommended products for some great results. However, I'm having trouble figuring out how to restore the emblems. They are chipped and the clear coat is missing from certain parts. I am on a tight budget and just looking to restore the car as best I can. Do you have any recommendations to save these emblems?

Jewelling is not a new term. Just means super fine polishing. Usually usimg a finer polish with a finishing pad instead of a polishing pad. On a daily driver, it's a waste of time ;)
