Car Factory - Kia Sportage factory production line

High tech robots stamp, shape and weld Kia Sportage cars on the new production line in the Slovakian factory. Every 80 seconds a body shell is completed.
In answer to the many who have commented "how many people have these robots put out of work" the answer is 0. The factory was built in a town which had high unemployment after the Soviets left, and the production line is a small part of a plant which employs several thousand.
For more car factory action, take a look at • Car Factory production...

Lol, i've worked in Body Shop at my plant for Ford's in a much older facility. We got all these robots too, it's quite literally standard practice. There's still stuff that can only be done by humans right now, like Trim and Chassis.

+Chris Murray We use Fanuc in our glass plant factory. I work on them. You guys program these with Allan Bradly? Or something else?
@chrisyboy666
@chrisyboy666 8 жыл бұрын
+Will Rogers the programming format is client specific,basically what ever they have used previously.Other factors come into play like what the customer can afford or what level of automation they need/for example they need the finished part checked for size and dimensional accuracy/then it becomes more complicated and expensive when you need different systems to communicate with each other.
@chrisyboy666
@chrisyboy666 8 жыл бұрын
+Sean Lennon it this case yes CIM was used from design concept to finished product.All the Bigger companies apply CIM manufacturing form concept design to finished product.But in some cases like smaller runs and companies that don't have the infrastructure or finance its not always possible or cost effective. You also have to factor in the time from concept to plant commissioning to produce the Finnish product.Its not always the quickest from design to manufacture to inspection to use CIM.

People-there still is plenty of hands on-factory workers involved in building these vehicles and others. Simply because all you see in this vid is the robot section does not mean that the entire vehicle is made by robots.

I'm an aviation maintenance engineer, I won't be losing my job to a robot any time soon. But I'm happy these manufacturers turned to robotics because it means the vehicles I want are now cheaper. It is unfortunate that these people were replaced but you have to adapt to this very fast moving world.

They should make cars with little to no human input like this here in North America. The large scale ramp up of automotive production would create a demand for metals, plastics, etc. that human run factories could produce. We have our own natural resources, our own technology, and our own skilled workforce, yet we keep outsourcing and closing factories.

It is impressive, never saw a totally automatic car manufacturing line. But one thing just hit my eyes, what is the standard cycle time go this line? As you can see, after 56 seconds the first cycle finished, but the second shown run more than 70 seconds. Is it normal to fluctuate like that with an automatic line?

The problem with that is having to redesign the vehicle each time, and at our current fabrication and automated design technology level, that is simply unfeasible. I will agree with you that there is too much being wasted, but you have to consider that if we were to make cars only as needed they would not become cheaper nor would they be advance in design as readily as manufactured cars. It may be possible one day with computer aided design, for what you are talking about, to become feasible.

And since when has a job become something you actually wish and fight for? Do you understand the irony of the unemployment subject? We began working because it was needed. Suddenly, it has become a necessity. We could have this sort of machines producing most goods we use, and people would simply enjoy life, do what they really like and inspires them. Great work was hardly ever made because of money. And I live in Portugal, I see the suffering caused by unemployment everytime I leave my house.
