@@AS-ed6px No, it's because manual transmission is the norm for all cars in Europe. Better fuel efficiency (gas is very expensive in Europe), better handling when driving through hilly and narrow roads. Plus, If you go for a driving test on an automatic car, you will receive a license to only drive automatic cars, but not the opposite. Many countries do not even allow its citizens to get a drivers license using cars with automatic transmission.
@JSchroederee
@JSchroederee 3 жыл бұрын
Fuel economy isn't really the issue anymore. 8+ speed convential automatics, and CVT can easily get better fuel economy. It's basically that manuals are simpler and therfore cheaper to produce. Handling is a bit of a stretch, yeah the transmission is a factor but a pretty minor one. More an issue of suspension steering, differential, and weight.

I told someone recently that I am a super hero.... I had just parallel parked a friend's stickshift SUV on a steep Seattle hill. But I really impressed them when I added I turned the wheels into the curb! Haha! But, yeah, it's amazing how many Americans can't drive a stick... so glad I learned that first.

@@generaltso6914 I've driven manual for a very long time, but have always felt the right side drive would screw me up. Never attempted it it would just be weird to have to think about it. If they really wanted to screw people up they'd put the throttle on the left foot 🤣🤣

Earlier in the week I had just read a story about a couple of would-be teenage carjackers who tried to take a man's Honda Civic only to find they couldn't drive it because it had a 6-speed manual transmission! That made this sketch that much more hilarious for me when I saw it! P.S.: I could nit-pick -- how does he start the car if he's never seen a clutch pedal before, let alone operated one? But this is still comedy gold!
