Confirmed: Works on 2023 Taos. A little tricky to pry the piece out and get it back on though. Don't know why the keyhole has to be hidden. It wouldn't look bad.

I’m just dealing with this. Got key in and turned both directions but could not unlock door? Any suggestions?

@@ima6187 I didn’t solve the key problem. Somehow the rear hatch remained open while rest of car doors were locked. Plastic emergency key would do nothing. I entered car through rear, crawling to front, and pushed start button. Seemingly dead car sprang to life. Checked plastic key operation and it worked fine. It’s as if the car was in some kind of lock down. Battery power was unavailable and I think the emergency key must have required electric function, more like a switch than a mechanical tumbler. Sorry, I have no answer. Neither did my dealership 😠
