Dear friends, thank you for watching! Some of you expressed concern that this video may be used maliciously by thieves. - I personally have had my car broken into twice. Never had the thieves bothered to carefully unlock my car. They simply busted out my driver window and quickly took whatever was inside. This video is intended to help people unlock their cars without breaking anything (including the law or the bank ;) The window in the first car is down while I'm trying to unlock it because the glass is tinted and you can't see anything through it (I apologize for the lack of realism :)

Nothing new here for car thieves, but then this only gets you into a car, it won't start it for u. Best technique for getting into a more modern car that isn't yours is using an RFID scanner to collect the remote opening code when someone parks. Set the code to a blank key fob and just open the car like you owned it. Still won't start the car, but seriously this wouldn't be teaching a real thief anything new(not even the ten year old ones).

This video is really good. One note, always unlock from the passenger side. There is a lot less wires and mechanisms on that side. Another great trick is to take one of your wiper blades off and see if there is a small strip of metal in it. If there is, take the metal out and you can slip in to the door lock at 6 oclock as if looking at a watch. It is easier as well as use it to slip under the lock and sweep left or right and catch the mechanism. The wiper blade or your antennae is cheaper than calling someone to come out to unlock your car. Both are cheap to replace. Another thing you can try is each window. Gently take your hand , palm down and gently drag down on the glass with medium pressure. Sometimes there is enough slack to get a tool or hanger from the top.

I was brought here out of need and the first one with the shoe string helped me get my granny's car unlocked! I had to improvise by tying a piece of thin wire onto the middle of the shoestring because the slipknot kept closing as I slid it in, however I made a little loop out of wire and secured it into the middle of the string, then slipped it through, did a very small amount of fishing and I had the knob pulled up!! Thanks for making this vid!

A handy tool is metal wire from a fence. It is more rigid than coat hanger. It is much longer, you can even attempt to reach the door in the other side. There is fences like that everywhere. The only difficulty is starting to remove one wire without tool. And not get caught if the owner of that fence is around. The zigzag shape often helps to position the metal piece.

I ran into this video tonight because of an emergency and the first option truly works! Left a car running to warm up with driver door closed, but after a couple of minutes the locks randomly kicked in and I was screwed. A traditional flat shoe lace is what will only work. Follow the instructions with lots of patience with a really tight knot and you should hopefully pull it off too. It saved me lots money instead of calling a locksmith and I've also learned a new trick. So thank you so much!

Ha! I locked myself out of my car almost a year ago. Last one to leave work and in the middle of nowhere and with no obvious tools. I resorted to using branches from nearby bushes with little hook shapes. While I could snake them in they proved to be either too stiff or too limber to do what I wanted. The shoelace trick would not have worked in my car even if I could have thought of it. After about 45 minutes of aggravation I decided that I would make a lousy thief (though I had an impressive collection of twigs surrounding my car. Then I saw it. A ray of sunshine broke through the clouds, a choir of angels sang, as I realized my salvation had been there all along. A jagged three pound rock. Yep, right through the left rear window. I joyfully unlocked the car, sat in it and turned the key. I was elated - I was free to drive home and relax after another damnable day of overtime. My joy was short lived, as the rational part of my brain immediately told me that now I had to replace a window. F**k! The long drive home was spent with two voices in my head arguing - "How could you be so stupid?" "Well, did you want to walk?" "You shouldn't have left the keys in the car!" "Shut up!" Took weeks to source a window from a wrecker located closer than Outer Mongolia, but it turned out okay. I guess.

Omg... GREAT story, 😂😂😂 TERRIFIC story telling too, you are hilarious... A friend and I were at a restaurant in a city near our small town when she realized that she had locked her keys in her newish 1984 Jeep. We couldn't find anything or anyone to help, so she called her brother in law who assured her that he could get into the car, otherwise, she would have had to call a specialist. The brother in law came down, it took him over an hour and a half... He walked up to the Jeep, and... SMASHED the small vent window, stuck his hand in and opened the door... I gasped... eyes wide... My friend stood there for a minute... and then just lost it... 😂😂😂 She was so angry... omg... Meanwhile he was going "What!!! I opened it didn't I!!!" I was trying not to howl... She kept saying "I could have done that you idiot!!!"... We found out later that those Jeeps are super easy to open up... The back door has a small mechanism that opens that door in, literally, seconds... 😂😂😂

This is great thank you. I also have a tip for one of those RARE situations. I forget what car was involved, might have been a Caddy, Audi, or BMW. We were at a ski area and I noticed a car horn blaring and going silent. Went to see what was happening and saw a father and young daughter outside their car, no coats, in freezing weather. The father was opening the car door tripping the alarm. Attempting to silence the alarm with his fob, no success. Recloses the door to silence. I knew what was happening because I did some electrical engineering in that area. Hidden in the forest of tall pines was a radio tower that was jamming the fob signal. I guessed that the car alarm was located under the dash near the steering column. I instructed him to open the car door, sweep near the alarm unit while pressing the disarm button. We were lucky. It silenced.

Good tips for emergencies, to avoid these from happening, always have a spare key tucked in your wallet, purse or bag, separate key chain just for car key or key holder with magnet or glue small strong magnet (neodymium) to your key and stick somewhere under the metal part of your car that only you who only knows and change location occasionally, you can do this to your house key also specially in winter time.

Point is , I like to think that it's my good karma .... God works in mysterious ways ...

Really like the shoelace method - it uses one of my favorite knots. Great vid - excellent narration. Me, I carry a spare key all the time. I rented a car once and they gave me ALL the many keys they had for the vehicle, on one welded wire loop - I couldn't take one off for a spare, and they wouldn't have one, either.

Use an Electric Guitar string, (metal) a thinner gauge like a G,B,or the high E, select a type with the brass eyelet on the end. Similar to the methods in the video, just slide the non-eyelet end thru the eyelet for your loop. The strings are SO thin no wedging or prying is needed, you should be able to wiggle it right thru the glass edge into the vehicle, as the smooth thin strings will not be abrasive to finishes or gaskets. Fish that string in by navigating it with one hand for all turns and movement, (tip, bending a kink in the wire string is ok for strategic control) BUT at the entry point to the location its slid into, PINCH the string between your fingers, while holding that pinch-point stationary for accuracy. Once you do this for the first time, its a lot easier in general than the bulky wires and straps and floppy shoelaces. Where to get a string? A pack is about $4-$5 at any music shop,...or ask a friend who plays a guitar for a used one,...they change them frequently. If its not free, get a new friend. After you learn this method and get good at it, you can get into most tight tolerance doors quicker than some drivers can pull a key out , unlock and open a door.... A guitar string can be coiled into a wallet, a purse, kept at your job, stashed in your vehicle to help others,...etc. Maybe even hide one somewhere on the trim of the vehicle. Most cars today are made to not lockout. You need to use the key to lock it. Therefore you are not locked out,....you just lost your key. Dont do that,... .......then you`d have more time to learn the guitar. Happy Motoring,.....Great Video

I do “lock outs” for part time work. I might suggest you get yourself a roll of WIDE “painters tape” and put 2-3 layers over painted areas of car to get “some” protection against paint damage. Granted, we have a “cover your ass clause” in our PRE-ATTEMPT “SIGN HERE” before we start paperwork, it still doesn’t keep drunks from threatening to sue us after we get them in their car at 3am when it’s 10 degrees outside... And yeah, I’ve told drunks “Yes, your car is now open and you have your keys. You are obviously in no condition to drive legally. Why not get a Uber/Lyft now?” Or I’ve given many NICE drunks a ride home because they were NICE. On flip side, I’ve also called police BEFORE they take off behind the wheel and generally they get a cab/Uber/Lyft then. Unfortunately, a few got cuffed & stuffed. But I tried to help them BEFORE it came to that.

Good tips that work well if your home or near a store. But some of the things will be hard to get if your not able to find some of the items. When I was a firefighter we use to use the slim jim of different makes. Another way is to try a KEY from the same make or model. I was able to open a womens car with her baby inside by using my Toyota key. Another thing was a friend locked his doors while the car was RUNNING. Using a hanger I was able to push one of the window buttons to lower a window and open the locked door. Another way is to ask some of the locals to open the door. You will be surprised how many are Car Thieves with the experience to do it will gladly help.
