So we've got some good news for you. Car Leasing return charges for damages just got a hell of a lot better than they used to be.
What does a lease company charge for a damaged alloy wheel? what do leasing companies charge for a scuffed bumper? Well wee look at VWFS lease return charges and the scale of charges from ARVAL leasing for damage on a returned lease car and it's a much happier story these days. These are example costs for things that fall outside of the fair wear and tear guidelines (I did a different video on that subject).

My car had it inspection 7 weeks ago and they picked up a couple of bits in the paintwork as I’d have had a couple of panels painted. I disputed this and wouldn’t sign they took car but I’ve heard nothing at all since. Do u know how long for them to respond

How did you contest your charges my car goes back in few months nothing really wrong with it just a few chips, no wheels are curbed or anything just a black car so you see the light scratch’s a bit more, the lease is by ALD AUTOMOTIVE.

Thanks for watching Ali Asif, really mate you need to make sure the car is super clean so the inspection can 100% tans place on your drive. If it’s dirty they’ll do it after a clean which you will get charged for and don’t have a chance to get them to explain. These charges are very reasonable now in my opinion so watch my video on prepping your car for return and put in a little effort to prepare the car and you should be ok 👍

Just sixty quid for a missed service? That's incredibly cheap. Last month I had a major service (which included cambelt & ancillaries etc) and this ended up costing close to a grand. Many of the lease companies offer 'all inclusive' servicing for an extra fifteen to twenty quid per month. On a 3 year lease this adds £500 - £700 to the total cost whereas missing 2 services would only incur a penalty of £120 (just make sure to return the car a few days before the final service is due). Some people would see this as a serious inducement to completely ignore the manufacturers service recommendations. Then again it would leave the lessee in serious financial do-do if the engine exploded or the gearbox croaked so, personally, I wouldn't chance it.

Thanks John Roberts, I think I’d be asking for it in writing that the only penalty against me if I didn’t service the car in line with manufacturers recommendations was a £60 fine as I feel like there just be more to it. Maintained deals used to be so expensive but they’re often very cheap now as you say as often make a ton of sense 👍

These prices do seem reasonable Jim. Maybe it’s a way of attracting customers… lease a VW through VW, and save money on after lease costs. If you’re not fussed what brand of car you have, then this might be the thing that attracts you to that company. I am a cynic though, and I suspect reasonable fees for faults at the end of the lease have already been factored in to the monthly lease costs you’ve been paying? Just wondering 🤔

A mate has just had the charges through from Honda for his car and they are equally reasonable. To be fair I thought the Arval costs were OK too. I'm guessing the regulator has just told all involved that they're not allowed to rip people off any more - hooray for regulation!

Why is there never ever anything said or mentioned about steering wheel and gear stick. Like literally, never a pic never even a glancing mention. I only ask as my seat cupra 2019 goes back in June and leather in gear knob has wear on one side

Any damage to it would be treated the same as damage to any other interior parts. A good clean will probably make it look 100x better.
