I get this question a lot: How do you have a car and a narrowboat? Simple really, just takes a bit of forward thinking. In this episode I do a lot of walkin', chattin' and wood choppin'. There is always something to do!

Alone in the woods away from idiots is most relaxing. Multi tasking to support ones self is not dun by many anymore. You excel at it and are to be admired for it! Well Dun!

I think little Wilfs legs were a few inches shorter when he’d finished that long walk, I bet he slept well afterwards, he’s super cute. Swimming is my meditation, I clear my head and just count the lengths. That flood water was very impressive! Narrow-boating is often portrayed as idyllic and relaxing, it’s good to see the reality, it’s very often a matter of juggling lots of things as well as not having the necessities like water and electricity on tap. I loved this vlog May, you’re very entertaining and I loved the furry hat. X

Lovely walk May! It's so good for you if you can spare the time! It's one of my favourite things, walking the canal towpaths, they're definitely my happy place! We're next to the Macclesfield and Peak Forest canal, which is so so pretty! Managed about 10 miles last weekend and felt so much better for just being amongst nature.

You champion. I’m Currently on a mission to move my new little home from Northampton to the Trent and Mersey intime for being back to work on Jan 2nd so LONG days cruising. 4 days in now, two nights ago I had a four hour walk down a very sloppy towpath to get my car. moored up and dusk, got back to the car at 930pm!! Knackered!! I am Loving it all the same but I think, short stints once this long haul is over 😂. Love your energy, and your commitment to yourself, and your outfits :). Thanks for all the help so far. X

I saw another vlogger chopping wood - he used a spike thing, rather like a chisel,😂 which he tapped into a log, then hit it with a hammer and the log split. It looked so easy that even I, a 79 year old, unfit woman could do it. Probably harder than it looked, but worth looking into. I think he said it was called a log splitter. No that wasn't quite right. I just tried to find the vlog but couldn't so googled log splitter and saw it! It is an open tubular thing with the log splitting blade about half way down. Insert the log and hit the log with a sledge hammer. It's hard to describe but if you Google log splitter images you will see what I mean. ❤

Well done for capturing the more 'gritty' real life adventures needed to survive living aboard. Oh my days😊 Keep Smiling

I have a Folding eBike that's in Car or on Cruiser Stern of Boat. It works well and moving on 10-15 miles is not a problem. As soon as we moor I get on bIke and ride back to that days start point and retrieve Car. Not so good in Winter though!!❄ Take Care. NB Happy Days.

My children a re grown and flown the nest long since and me being an only child i'm happy with my own company. Also it gives my wife a break from me. For future reference when you get blocks with a knot in them line it up so the the axe blade follows the grain of the branch that gave you the knot rather than at right angles

A while ago I sang the praises of Lidl's Parkside cordless pole chainsaws and suggested one for May. After loaning mine to a friend who did a dumb and broke it, I bought a new one about six weeks ago when they had them in again. When assembling I noted that the new design seemed better than the old, however, within 60 seconds of using it for the first time it started screaming like a banshee. Something has gone awry in the gearbox, possibly due to poor manufacturing tolerances meaning that gears don't mesh and grind under anything but minimal load. I will be returning it and obviously don't recommend the current versions.

I have maybe 4 or 5 kumihimo projects going. each project exists in the different spaces I spend my time. each one is different in colors and patterns and I loose track of time while I work on them. It is my form of meditation where my hands are in motion and I don't have to really focus on anything then the rythm of the hands moving in specific patterns.

Ah, the old car and narrowboat conundrum. I'm sure that you have seen photos of cars and vans turned into the bodies of narrow boats, and while that won't solve your problem, how about fitting wheels under your narrowboat and driving it like a car when you need to? At least when you get stuck down a narrow country lane, after following a car satnav instead of an HGV one, you'll bring a smile to people's faces.

Taking a slow walk back the way you came having a second look at what you may not have seen can be relaxing but sometimes a must do nuisance, A folding bike May could be the answer to the off can't be bothered days. even help on the shopping days when kitted for carrying, even for all the wood you gather with a maybe fold up towing back end bike trolley. A folding ebike even better as a lot less energy used and greater distance travelled. Can you list what camera you use May as it does very good clear closeup work.
