I don't why this never hit me before. When I was much younger I would go to a mechanic named Sam, whenever I was in over my head. Jonny absolutely reminds me of Sam. Both truly fix things, not just throw parts at the car. And both have the same calm demeanor that comes with experience.

You laugh at the wizard, but I tried it and worked reasonably well. The brake fluid removes that yellowed clear coat. You can’t over do it though or you’ll hurt the plastic. But it will buff out with polish.

Thirty eight hundred dollars for ONE Porsche headlight - and it's for a ten year old car. Think about that people. You think touchscreens are going to be any cheaper when those go out and need replacing - when most of or nearly all of your car's functions are through the touch screen? My 1988 BMW 750iL doesn't have a single touch screen inside it, buttons everywhere, I am I am so thankful for that.
@houseofno9 ай бұрын
You probably could fit a sealed beam with a LOT of duct tape and fabrication but the light output might as well be a single lit candle at night.
@greebj9 ай бұрын
That silly price is because they sell it as a "sealed unit". For a hazed UV damaged plastic outer shield, you need to buy everything inside as well that's perfectly fine. And these auto companies have the gall to advertise themselves as "green" when this level of pointless obscene waste is designed on purpose to prop up their revenue stream. Barf.

I was just watching a video from a guy that fixes headlights with a torch in like 10 seconds. Perfectly clear. Is that completely fake I wonder? Since some people, like the Ninja, make much more work out of it with sanding and all that.. Is the torch method real or bs?
@Dani-it5sy9 ай бұрын
@TheSilverArrows1 Cool. I am going to give it a try on this old Mitsubishi I got here. Yes melting is for sure a problem. They went over it very quickly with the torch. Instant result. I wonder if it's real. Some people spend lots of money on new headlights.

perfectly safe method as well just requires the right mix of solvents heated up and do not breathe those vapors

I had a glass outer covering headlight on my E34 cop a stone. Had to unglue to disassemble. Took quite a few hours but it was kinda fun to fix it for almost nothing.
