I do remember (a reverse thing sort of) when we drove thru Germany in a old SAAB 900 (can not remember the date of the car but maybe it was 1984 or maybe a couple of years later) We drove it in the early 2000 though. He had bought it from an old lady that took it to the shops 1 couple of miles every other day. He used it for getting to work (which was about 1-2 miles away)... So the car had very very low mileage but was an older car. The car dropped it's exhaust system at the downpipe and sounded like the a true rally car :-) Anyway we got it into a shop (usually only doing warranty service for Volkswagen/Audi but with a bit of pleading they would check if they could repair it (they just needed to weld the exhaust back so we could get home :-) and yes they could do it (they where awesome! and so helpful!). Anyway... we had to do some paperwork (yes the German kind, lots of questions and papers to fill), then the german man asked how many kilometers had the car run, my friend (he always knew from the top of his head) 9000 Km (which is about 5500 Miles) and the german man said again "no" and asked the question again... my friend said the same number... german man tried to explain that he meant the number in kilometers and what the total was and so on... and my friend again said the same number (but now he was thinking maybe the german wanted something else instead or at least we where confused)... And still the german said no and implied that we did not understand what he meant. He then asked for the keys to the car, my friend gave it to him and we all went out to the car which he opened and then stared at the "mileage meter" and said "ah, jaa ok" :-) I guess in Germany with the Autobahn a 1 year old car would have easily double the amount of mileage. Anyway it was a funny story.

from exp with a 99 523i (no sat nav, electric seats etc..) that I owed years ago, high mileage will mean one thing going wrong after another, unless the engine has been rebuilt and the broader drive train completely refreshed. In my case, between about, 120000 and 140000 miles, the radiator blew, the fuel pump failed, multiple oils leaks (repair one e.g. head gasket and another starts), airbags, drive shaft and if I recall correctly the timing chain. This was on top of multiple trunk and cd player failures. During some BMW driving courses I did later on, speaking to other BMW owners of newer vehicles it seems I was lucky; many by brand new and get rid of their BMWs by 70,000 miles to avoid mounting issues.

I just got a N55(X3 F25) with 145k miles. When I was looking up the car there does seem to be alot of debate about how many miles a N55 can do. Some people are of the opinion over 100k its a time bomb, and others they do much much more than that. So I think this 250k N55 is a great topic. And since its for your daughter just doing over the wear that car has at 250k is pretty interesting and would really show what parts a modern high milage turbo BMW owner really needs to concerned about.

This car is used, not abused. Beautiful interior.

Mileage is the first thing I check on a car. In the U.K people tend to run away from cars when they are over 100000 miles. 250000 mile car here would be worth very little.

200K is the new 100K for cars these days, seems like. In the 80's yeah, 100K+ was the end.

I like to think I've been in on the ground floor of many a car KZbinr (including Hoovie, Wizard, Tavarish, the usuals) but I think I'm most proud of being in early with the Ninja.

Your videos make me want to buy a BMW again. Suddenly forgot all the stress of my old e46. 😅
