I have 40+ years and have developed a tolerance to isocyanates which are in the hardeners. When I went to a specialist in Boston the Dr's first response was wow 40 years exposure and still alive!

I work in a automotive factory and I'm a painter it's so cool watching this done in a garage is so different but also educational. We have a paint booth with water under us and humidity at a certain temp. Then also baking takes about 750 seconds. We painted 247 cars in a 9 hour shift super crazy but I love watching these videos.

I used to paint for many years as my profession, before going back to school and moving into IT work. I would always, always, always spray down the booth with water before doing any painting. It will decrease trash in the paint by probably 90%. Im only at the part in the video where you laid down the first coat of sealer, so I don’t know if you will do it or not, but it’s an amazing pro-tip, especially for guy trying to do it in a non-professional environment.

I would suggest doing it. It sometimes does raise the humidity in the booth but is a big help.

The only thing they missed is to strain your paint when pouring it into a gun. Also. Those mirrors cant look good in person at all. No way to spray the back if on the car. They should have been removed.

I don't think I've ever found a youtube channel like yourself that explains in great detail how to spray paint cars. The advice you give on spray guns, Psi/ wide open what distance you should be spraying/ Times to spray your second coat. The list goes on. You have amazing skills. A great paint technician. Your wealth of knowledge is incredible and valuable. And to hear in your other videos your self taught. Speaks many words, Thankyou so much for the time you have taken to offer your time and advice to help many people such as myself that wants to learn how to do it the right way. On how to spray paint. Tip: Painting without booth try weting floor to keep dirt n debris from flying up. Thats something my uncle showed me when painting in his garage.

Last part of this video with him saying don’t chase perfection really helped me feel better about my spray job. I just sprayed my car and I have some runs and mistakes but it all can be buffed out. For a garage job I would have to say I did pretty good. I haven’t painted for almost 16 years and to do a whole car after that long of a time I would have to say I did a damn good job. Thank you for making me feel better about how I painted my car!

I've watched this video twice. Today's viewing is all about reviewing before the actual spray. I'm heading into my 60's age wise and doing what I've always wanted to at home. I'm doing powder coating and painting myself and as my place of employment seems to be ousting me due to my age, I feel I've barely gotten into the job I really love and have yet to peak in life. This has been the most beneficial video on painting a car at home. Thank you for being so informative and helpful. I think this will bring me great results as I intend to do most of my personal vehicles in black which detects every little bump and slope. My only fear is water mixing with the paint. I even have filters installed to pull the water, yet no matter what I try, it always seems to drip water at some point and I fear it will land on my perfect black paint. New compressor and new filters, yet always get that water drip.

It's really not hard man , just follow the steps and tape off everything you don't want paint on and like dude said if you make a mistake just sand and try again. Or buy a piece of sheet metal and practice on that

So many great tips for the amateur and the professional. #1 tip..... don't chase perfection!!! Some of my best jobs have been on projects that I thought were fun and didn't need to be perfect. The high end jobs, I have gotten into trouble with because I stressed too much and forgot to relax and have fun. Painting, for me is therapeutic, relax. Great video, great channel, thank you.

@@PaintSociety so when the base is sprayed you can lightly sand to flatten and reveal dust nibs. Then more base can be sprayed. Then when you clear coat you DON'T sand the base again? This is the past I'm not sure about, please let me know!

Karl R Miller do not sand the final base coat before laying down clear. Especially with metallic paint. It will show through the clear

I really enjoyed the video, I'm a Panelbeater from South Africa. I'm doing my practical, so I'm still a student. My workplace is also teaching me how to do some spray painting work and so on. Anyway, what I see at work, most of the time when they put on primer, base and clear or Primer and 2k. They always have to flat/scuff the Primer/paint or 2k. For example. Primer gets sprayed, then when it's dry. It gets a P600 water/wet scuff, maybe because of contaminants or so. When cleaned properly, it gets a base coat (2-3 coats), after that the base coat, gets a water/wet p1500 scuff (sometimes it doesn't). Then cleaned again, then it gets a clear coat (2-3 coats I think), when it's dry the clear coat will be scuffed with water/wet p2000 then it gets a polish and wax. After that the car is finished. So, what I learned from this video and the rest is. If you don't clean your surface properly/hold your spray gun too far/don't set the gun's pressure right and more. You have to put in extra work to get the job done properly. I still have 1y and 6 months to go, so thank you for your content😁. I'm still very young and have lots of goals. I'll definitely enjoy doing panel beating and spray painting as a hobby or side job. I'm going into mechanical work after this (dream job). Definitely petrol/diesel mechanic or both. Then mechanical engineering or the other way around. Engineering first then petrol or diesel😄. I have very good grades, so I'll make it 😁. Keep up with your great content 😁✌🏼

This is like the the 7th video I've watched. Honestly I was taught primer, block sand, then wet sand, then clean, then 3 coats of base and then 3 coats of clear. They really emphasize the getting the impurities out before painting. For the record im not a painter, just learned a bit in school.

I’ve always wanted to learn how to paint. Now, I only need to learn how to mix. Back in the day my brother in law painted his car with a roller. It’s all he could afford. 1 Inch wood screws i use in my mixing cups , just sick them through about a 1/4 inch or so in through the side of the cup where you want your measurement to be instead of using a marker, at least u will see the mark once u use the cup more than once. it works for me , just want to let everyone know so u can try it your self if u want to . great video , you help me lot by your videos . keep up the good work and keep them videos coming .

What I do when painting in my garage is I hose down the entire floor and keep it wet when spraying, that way it catches most of the dust and overspray

Just a tip, it's easier to keep the dirt out of one coat than 3 or 4.save the denibbing for the last coat than add another, tack off after flash and clear it
