I've seen a lot of people hate on this cover but I honestly don't think it's too bad. Yeah he sounds monotone in the beginning, but Will's version is more about the gradual buildup to the final chorus which is a staple in a lot of his music. Also doesn't help that tiktok has damaged people's attention spans lmao.

The funny thing is that to me this cat and his band created one of the best tunes ever (Hippie Powers), that sounded like everything that was my mother's milk, and I could not get over it. But that was the only thing I got excited about. Now here's this entirely different, thick and tweedy and leathery and "British Motoring" cover of the dames tune, and its fucking amazing. So I live in Bloomington Indiana, and we had a big outdoor street fest where CSHR was the headliner. You gotta realize that my son is a big fan and he was pumped about the show so I decided to go to the show . it should Be noted that I am 60 years old and I am a deadhead from back in the 1980s -1995 era. Back then I was a taper . That is I brought professional recording equipment including expensive microphones and cassette recorders into the show and I was allowed to record The Show by the band. So I decided to dust off my recording gear to tape the CSHR show. Being out of practice. I committed the trifecta of doing everything wrong. Firstly I did not test out and prepare my rig with new batteries. Secondly I got to this show late. This was kind of weird as when I got there it was 15 minutes after showtime. So I stated to set up my gear (tripod, Nakamichi CM-100 microphones, Tascam DR-680 digital recorder and all the necessary cables, etc). So I stated to set up my gear and this lady came up to me and said I could not set up my gear there as they needed to keep a "medical corridor" open. So I stated to break down my recording gear to find a better place to set up to record from. Meanwhile these two cops came over should I cause any problems..So I stood up to address the cops and they stood up straight and backed off...you gotta know here that I was wearing my US Marine Corps beret with all my rank, medal hatpins, etc, so the two cops told me "thank you for your servicd" and we fist bumped and right then the. CSHR sound mixer came up and told me to bring my recording rig up to the sound booth and set up there (props and righteousness to the sound and light guys). So I went back to the mix booth and set up my rig. I got it set up just in time for the band's (first song?). All was good and I asked one of the nearby security guys and asked him why the band started late and he told me they started on time but there was some kind of medical emergency and they had to stop the show so that the EMT folks could address the problem. Anyway the band started up again and they ROCKED! It was awesome! They had a great PA system and it was cranked UP! The band rocked and the light show was out of this world!! I thought about it, and then I was told that the medical emergency was some girl went into seizures...Well with that light show it was surprising that the entire crowd didn't seize up. Lol. So anyway all was good until my recorder ran out of battery power... Rookie mistake. I shot a few songs on my phone, packed up and split the place. I still had a lot of fun. My son had a blast, and I remembered all the mistakes made by rookie tapers... I really like this band and I hope to see them again sometime soon. New batteries, arrive early, and make friends with the sound and light crew... Thanks to all from Bloomington Indiana USA. Hope to see you again soon.
