Sometimes it happens that we cannot find molded foam cushions for certain car models. Neither new nor old.
Then the solution is to rebuild the foam. One way is the method of using a used molded
foam from another model of car. I went to a car junkyard and found a backrest foam base of similar density.
To tell the truth I do not like to take on this kind of job,because it is time consuming. The customer requested me to restore his seats.
The task starts out by checking the springs system. The spiral springs are attached to the edge of the frame on the lower part. Fortunately, the spiral springs were still in good shape including its green plastic layer. I only had to repair one support edge.
The springs had carved through the foam cushion seat. Those cracks were glued down and its whole base was covered with a hard grey cloth. To add protection the foam cushion will sit over a piece of carpet.

I just want to say I truly appreciate the time and effort you've put in to all these videos. Very insightful and helpful! Some of which I can use in my own life on certain things. I have myself my own seat for my Mustang (driver's side, of course) where your generosity in sharing is going to be very helpful indeed! Soon(tm). Saludos... Un buen trabajo... Lo felicito.. Pero me quedo un poco insatisfecho, por que acá en mi país(Ecuador) yo mande a hacer un arreglo parecido, claro que no quedo como el de su video. Pero lo peor de todo es que esa espuma vieja que queda en el molde se comienza a seguir desarmando en muy poco tiempo, entonces más que todo aquí viene la pregunta, hay algún material que se pueda usar para volver a hacer el molde completo y dejarlo un poco mejor????? Claro que no sea la espuma original qué en algunos sitios ni venden esos moldes, pero se podrá hacer con algún tipo de espuma y volver a dejarlo como nuevo???? Bendiciones.....

Una solución es usar la espuma aglutinada/aglomerada/reciclada de alta densidad. www.placomat.com/blog/aglomerado-de-poliuretano-mejor-colchon-acustico/ Por ejemplo en esta silla usé esta espuma aglomerada. LLevo 8 años con esta silla y sigue en buen estado.kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpqrl6CqeM1op9Usi=Ufe7CwqW3F_CoQyp&t=52 Para agregar suavidad hay que cubrirlo con una espuma mas suave que puede ser de 1/4" de pulgada.
