Car Starting Trouble Problem Solved At Home | Battery Terminal Loose Contact | HM Ambassador Car

When the car was tried to start, the battery turns on but frequently turning on and off. When tried to start, Battery suddenly turns of and starter motor isn't works. Engine Heater, Headlight, Brake Light, Turn Signals, Horn, Wiper etc also not working.
When checked, the adaptor on Negative terminal of battery is loosened from it and covered with a oxide black layer which prevent flow of electricity to all parts of the electrical system.
Here, the video of inspecting main connections inside engine room, cleaning and connecting of Battery terminal of HM Ambassador Classic Car at home is filmed.
This Car is 1996 Ambassador Classic with 1500 cc BMC 4 - Stroke 4 Cylinder OHV Diesel Engine.

Yes Sir. It is BMC 1500cc (correctly 1489cc) Over head Valve Diesel Engine.

Hi Ambadi, my 96 bmc has a smoking starter now a days and hesitates to rotate engine also, could this be a power connector corrosion issue? few days ago i changed the key switch also still the problem exists. Starter was serviced in 2018 with new armature and brushes. The car used to be a taxi back then. Now it is in running once in a while only.

Sir, How is the Battery condition? It may be due the power connector corrosion issue. Extreme heat may develop in it while starting. Few years back our car also faced this. At that time small fire also started. It is changed and it is cleared perfectly. Till then to now it will start with half twisting of the key. Checking the whole starter is better Sir. This occures also may due to the stuck starter bearings, short circuited armature, faulty solenoid switches etc. A thing which not notices is that, if the engine oil is too old and dark, It's lubrication property will lost and causes engine to become more tight in its working and on starting. At starting this starter will draw some more current at this time which causes a small lag. We also experienced this. These are from my knowledge. Consulting a auto electrician is better Sir.

Good information and you can apply vaseline also & for cleaning the terminal you can use wirebrush & steel wool bro

Yes Sir, wire brush and steel wool can be used here. Also, a small amount of petroleum jelly or grease can be applied. But this starting trouble issue happened near my house and only this much tools and time are available with me. So I just cleaned it for repairing it. Thank You Sir.

Apply some grease for both terminals it will avoid rusting and oxidation
