For motivation in my opinion, do projects you would consider easy or that you’ve never done before, this works for me at least doing web dev and being self taught, i do things in a free form environment i’ve never done before or i learn new ways of doing things i’ve always done because your personal projects are like playgrounds you can horse around in with no deadlines, existing setup, etc. You’ll sometimes find a project gets old to you because you’re past the experiments you did, then start a new one with all the new things you’ve learned or done.

I would definitely be happy to see more of the presentation / code tour style videos in the future.

In terms of future tech, I think your thinking is right: it's best to focus on the here and now. But one place I don't think this is true is processor support. I think in the next few years x86's dominance in the "PC" space will come to an abrupt end and ARM and RISC-V will take over, or at least will be significant players. Portability is more important than ever. So things like making Serenity run on a Pi should be on the radar. IMO. :)

Have you looked at Managarm ? They are creating fully asynchronous OS on modern c++. "Managarm: A Fully Asynchronous OS Based on Modern C++ - Alexander van der Grinten - CppCon 2020"

My OS project is not going very cool. There is no support for multi-threading but there is process management. And it's missing a lot of things like a proper VFS. an initrd loader, etc.

I started using TempleOS' DolDoc to make section comments highly visible by inverting the colours, and I think it's ruined plain-text programming for me :D

do you feel like your programming prowess peaked at a certain point in your life and has been declining with age ever since or do you feel yourself becoming more powerful by the day?
