Hmm? Skoda Jokes in this day and age? I traded my V6 Passat wagon in for top of the range Roomster and tuned it up a little to 140 bhp/ 318nm of torque, in 1100 kg of car. Its been a lot of fun, reliable as clockwork, currently 99300 miles on the clock and practical as hell. I will trading it in for another Skoda, either FABIA vRS or Octavia vRS both in estate variants. Unfortunately I cannot afford a Maserati Gran Turismo as an everyday family car so these "Budget?" cars will keep me happy ticking all my boxes. Smart looking cars too.....

What i think alot of people don't realise too, is that the Skoda also comes in a Wagon (which i own), which can mean on one weekend, surf boards on the roof, bikes and camping gear in the back, and then on the other, a 139mph beast ;)

The mk1 Octavia vrs wiped the stupid skoda jokes out of the window in my opinion absolutely love my one yeah it's 11 years old and it looks a bit dated compared to newer cars on the road but it still looks amazing and 135,000 miles on and never broke down and can still hit 150mph skoda I salute you for making the vrs models :D

I had a 3 year old (10 plate) one back in 2013, that colour but a black roof. Personally thought it looked pretty cool, definitely went well, good fun to drive, think it was about 9k when I bought it so similar price to a new 1.2 Corsa at the time! Loved the 7 speed DSG box, really responsive, and fact engine was supercharged and turbo'd meant throttle response was good. Was always a bit unsure on handling at the limit though...felt a bit top heavy. Got rid because of a really annoying tapping noise from the boot area the dealer could never track down. Bought a Mazda3 MPS instead.

This guy hasn't done his homework properly by the comments. Heating isn't manual either. It's called climatic. It looks like 80s heating controls, but it does adjust the temperature,etc by itself.

i like it its better than the seat but the wheel rim isnt flat bottom like the polo but thats something you can live with for it being cheaper. great vid though!

The Polo GTI is a Skoda VRS with a bit of rubbery plastics here and there, checked seats and a fancy logo. Some people may cope with the 2000£ extra but I'd rather not be robbed. By the way, I always buy the cheap cookies.

@SkodaAreShit What do you drive out of interest? the ocatvia vrs is a sweet car (yes i know this video is about the fabia), it knocks the spots of most of it's competition expecially after a remap.. not to mention it's much cheaper than anything else out there.. BMW 320d sport etc.

I would take the Skoda Fabia VRS rather than a VW Polo GTi. The Skoda is a taller car, I think, and is easy to get in and out of. The only gripe I have with the Fabia is the low positioning of the touchscreen - it should be more safely higher up on the dashboard.
