Hey! Thanks for the in depth review of car adapters as manufacturers these days lie about everything on these small electronics. There’s one thing in particular that I’d like to see you include in future videos which is the total sustainable power output when all the ports are in-use. Again, great work here! Looking forward to seeing your next review video!

For me, the most important fact that you stated was, if you leave the power port on, this is how much each devices draws. Why you ask? Well, imagine what would happen if I forgot to turn my power port off, I go to get in my car at the end of my work shift, then find my batter in my car dead, oops. And hope that I was smart enough to keep a charged jump start booster pack in my trunk to jump start my car. Notice how none of these companies state this information on any of their chargers? Crazy

Yeah, the specifications are extremely vague on car power adapters. Yeah, I think I am going with the Anker as my daily driver because of that low idle power consumption, I leave it plugged in all the time.

Do you mean a radar chart ? They're not really ideal for this… however, a spider chart is perfect for presenting data where a decision is to be made and I think would work nicely for most comparisons on this channel. But yes, improved charting would make a big difference !

@@fiveangle Yes - I typo'ed and meant radar/spider charts as a good solution for presenting this data. This channel has a lot of cool and useful information, and improving the "style" of the final result presentation (instead of the default excel chart) may capture more of an audience (and other bloggers might cite the charts in their social media if they are pretty).

Went looking for a vid on this, and low and behold one was yours ! (Video posted before I found and subbed to your great channel :) - I'm looking at the big daddy chargers and there's a bunch that have come out since then that support PPS. @@AllThingsOnePlace Thx ! On closer inspection, they buried the fact in fine print that the 160W Baseus only supports 20V output with a 24V input supply... so I guess if you are trying to use your adapter in a military hummer, you're okay ? lol. If you do another 12V adapter vid, rather than a quick mention, distinctly call out in every vid the big problem of most of them not supporting 20V even when they claim they do, due to very non-standard 24V input requirements. I just want to run my 4.25W@20V Magsafe2 USB-C PD Macbook adapter from my cigarette lighter along with my wireless iPhone charger mount. C'mon mfrs, is this so hard to understand ? =D

@@fiveangle This is not accurate, the C1 input(upper) has a buck-boost, meaning it will be able to create both 5V and 20V from the 12V input, the second connector will be able to create 15V & 20V only with 24V input. I just bought it and was able to charge my Lenovo Yoga C940 laptop with it.

What an epic review........I'D LOVE TO SEE AN UPATED REVIEW COVERING all the latest 100w-160w car chargers and also your thoughts on whether it might be better for your car battery if you were to use say a 65w to charge your laptop that is rated to charge up to 95w (so it pulls less power from car battery, but hmm wonder if that would put more stress on the lower wattage charger) or better to use something like a 130w charger and if you feel that will be ok for the car battery....................Most of my use would likely be just for the phone and occasionally charging a laptop if in a crunch and just need some juice to hold me over so likely 65w would be good, but would love to hear your thoughts.
@AllThingsOnePlace
@AllThingsOnePlace 7 ай бұрын
I will have another review on these, I am probably not doing too many 100 - 160W ones though as they are beyond the ratings of the sockets typically. They're made so cheap and the contact point is so small, they get hot and melt or have to run on 24V to get the rated power. So, it's just a marketing lie. Anyway, I will review some of them. I will probably say something similar on the 160W one, basically don't buy it. In terms of wattages and compatibility it's really the device side that decides. If the laptop can charge from a 65W adapter, then use that in mobile and you won't run into issues with fuses popping.

I bought the iniu because I liked the smaller size (also need smaller because my port is in the arm rest towards the top. So anything too big would be made bigger with a cable plugged in and being eventually smashed until broken). I also like it has a type c and USB A. My favorite part (as a mechanic) is the battery voltage meter. I imagine it shouldn't be too hungry to drain my battery as I left my 120w inverter plugged in with a Samsung super fast charger plugged in for almost a year. It's an always on port even when car is off and at times I'd get in the car with the fan on the inverter blowing because it's hot out. Great solid quality too!

Nice, as long as you drive a decent amount should keep things topped off. Yeah, it isn't like leaving headlights on (200+ watts versus 1 watt idle). I noticed my vehicle leaks through the port somehow so even when the car is off the voltmeter stays on with the INIU (at 3-4VDC). I haven't explored this yet but vehicle can't have a relay for the accessory port so no idea what they are doing that would leak enough to keep the device powered a little.
@meme5887
@meme5887 2 жыл бұрын
@@AllThingsOnePlace Hmm. That's interesting. I don't see any reason to need to supply it with 3-4v. Either it's on or it's not because anything that uses the port needs 12v. Maybe it doesn't have a dedicated relay, but shares one and it's starting to fail? And all, but my high beams are led so now my system isn't as stressed for power.

Car chargers get weird at high power levels. They might need more voltage than a typical car will supply or the current will be too high and it can trip a fuse or protection device so be wary of that. If only charging a phone you don't need more than 30 watts. PPS is less popular on these devices, out of this round only one has it. The Gubeter. I will have another round of car adapters at some point though.

@AllThingsOnePlace
@AllThingsOnePlace Жыл бұрын
@Emmanuel GoldsteinOf course there are different versions of QC, USB A ports use QC 2 or 3. These are the most common way to get more power out of a USB A port. USB C with PD is compatible with QC5, so essentially, these are the same thing. A USB C port likely won't give you QC 2 or 3 modes though. That whole thing is still a bit of a mess. Obviously, preferences and requirements are so vast it is difficult to figure it out. I basically like having one good 5V charger, then I go for things with PD which is what my devices all use. I don't have any QC devices but everyone has different needs.

I did test in a 12V socket. One rated for 10 amps. I usually find it is the plug end that is bad. I melted a plug in the socket used in this video. Also, if the socket gets corroded at all then all bets are off. Being in a car environment it is not unrealistic. There are also really cheap sockets... that wouldn't be fair to test in. Could be a separate video showing that a lot of these plugs and sockets are awful.

@@AllThingsOnePlace yea that would be a great video! Any thoughts on why the tips are melting? Could it be that the push-touch contact is barely enough to make a good connection?
