It's pretty neat to see young fellas experimenting with stuff like we used to when we were kids with no dough trying to make stuff work. Good job young man!!! Just FYI for anyone reading, You could run that SVS on a stock stereo with LOC's (line output converters) because it has line level RCA inputs and the crossover, or lowpass filter is in the internal amplifier circuit. Most older powered subs have it and you can buy 'em dirt cheap, getting a box, sub, amp and crossover all in one and LOC's are cheap and just splice into the closest speaker wires giving you that pre-amp line level signal needed for the sub or any house speaker really. Also, if ya don't wanna pop for an inverter, (those 20$ ones are a little sketchy) an old UPS (computer battery back up, APC's) with an auto accessory plug (cigarette lighter plug) wired to the battery terminals works awesome, and you can get 'em at thrift shops or your local recycling center (junk yard) for about 2 bucks. If it has a decent battery in it, it will keep powering your AC components for a couple hours after your vehicle is off and it's unplugged from the 12V accessory port. Much love!!! ✌ ϻя.ƹ

The issue is your inverter only supplies about 150w peak, you need a 1500w inverter to supply the svs sub with enough power. It does not have the 4 gauge DC power available from your battery the car audio amp has

Good idea but that converter wont allow the full output of your home sub amp bro. I think the car 12v output is limited to less than 200 watts max. You need a higher power converter that can wire direct to your car battery.

BUT, he has stressed that the car subwoofers are two, 12 inches each, with 1500 watts continuous power. Conversely, the SVS is only 10 inches with 300 watts continuous power. You don't need to be a genius to know which one would sound "fuller." All you're doing is just trying to start a baseless childish argument to discredit him. If he was comparing them to say PB-4000 or 16 Ultra, the argument would have been different. In a more objective study we can evaluate factors such as impedance, cabin gains, etc.

@@DesmondKarani facts, I bet the PB-1000 has higher output @25 Hz and lower than those two kickers. Since the port on the PB-1000 is tuned to 22 Hz while the Kickers are probably tuned to 30 or higher.

I had the same dilemma where I wanted to put a sub but I wanted to save money & space in case I needed to haul cargo and not do too much electrical. I remember when I was 17 and tried this very disappointing task. I had a 77 Buick 225 known as The Deuce and a Quarter and it had the old 6x8's in the back dash and my stepfather had some old tower speakers laying around and I was like "Hmmmmm I wonder how those will sound in my car" so I went and dragged those big mudasuckaz down and threw them in my trunk and wired them up,then i went back in the car and cut them on and all i hear is the front speakers playing,i pop the trunk and yeah, the towers are playing,but so damned low,i can hardly hear them. I thought my trunk was going to be shaking🤣🤣🤣 well that was 1993 and wow 27 years later I know better now. Thanks for the memories, good video lol!

It's just a ported box it isn't magical. The design is the same as the kicker box You put that Kicker box indoors it will move air around a lot better than one 10. Designed to move air around in a bigger place lol !!

I did this to my uncle 05 Sentra back in 2013 jus a random thought I had lbs. I used a old 5.1 Philips sub my pops gave me. Definitely gave the system A LOT of bass hell, bass period cuz those Sony and kicker 6.5s he put in there had no bass at all not even with the bass to the max. It may not have got the low end like I wanted but it definitely got the job done.

Seems like your underpowering those l7s! I have a 12 inch kicker l7 in the kicker single enclosure powered by a rockford fosgate prime 1200-1d at 2ohm to match sub pushing 800rms and we all know rockford fosgate pushes more than advertised as my birth sheet on my amp says 1492 on my 1200 and it slams in my 2013 Hyundai sonata. Everyone always thinks I have a pair of 12s not a single enclosure like I do.

My first sub was a cheap Walmart dual brand that was only like 150rms and it moved the rear view mirror just as much as his kickers did in this video. Lol

Wow. Old post. But hey, it just popped up in my feed so I might as well weigh in here. :-D It's not as simple as plugging in a power inverter and powering the SVS. The SVS is only going to be able to draw as much power as the inverter is capable of supplying. That cigarette lighter cannot draw full power directly from the car's 12 volt source. It's acting as a power choke on the SVS amp. That's why you had to crank the volume up to max on the SVS. A real comparison would have been to use a heavy duty extension cord from your house...say inside your garage...and power the SVS from your residential mains. Then you would have heard the SVS at it's full power. THAT would have been a true comparison. Under those circumstances, the SVS would have wiped the floor with the Kicker.

Cool video. Dunno why I love stuff like this, but I do. I'd rather take the low tuned box (PB-1000) over the dual subs anyday. My Ultimax 10" is going to move to a 20hz tuned ported box eventually, but it gives more than enough bass for my needs down to 25hz currently. I wouldn't recommend using an inverter long unless it's directly connected to the battery with some better gauge wires. And you're better off wiring in an amp anyway. (directed to people who might want to to this instead of properly running wires and an amp) I wonder how much that little inverted was pushing, 100 watts goes a long way though, more than most people think. Your headunit looked similar to mine, but I didn't pay enough attention to figure out what one lol, I love how I can set crossovers for each channel. (Front, rear, and sub)

I use USB and selecting songs is so fast and easy on it vs the equinox we have takes way to long to select songs you have to take your eyes of the road to much, whereas the pioneer I can nearly do it by feeling alone with how fast it is.

I'll post a video once I get a inverter 500 watt and battery cables with terminal connections not clamps and a in line fuse. This can be safely done for the haters. An you dont need a aftermarket head unit. I just put a PL 200ii in my camry with a factory cd player and no sub out. It was free sub so why not. And your right it's so clear compared to car subs.

I always replace the sub in my powered home theater sub , with the same brand car audio sub. Sounds SOOOOOOO much better... EVERY TIME. I’ve done it with.. Pioneer Infinity Sony Polk Audio They were all good... but once I put the car sub of the same brand in the hime theater box.... NO COMPARISON. My home theater bass is easily comparable or better than what you’d get at a full size movie theater. Honestly.. my shit sounds better than a movie theater if we’re talking overall...

Your test is not proper . You have to removed your 12" x2 box out of the car. So, svs get more vaccum and other virtual box created.

Why would the rattle be impressive? from my view point you should want your vehicle to sound the same as your home system. The bass should be like a punch in the chest, hit you hard like a thud and come back again. Roll off should not be the desired effect, the difference should between a sealed sub and ported. Sealed should be more pleasing for sound quality than ported just as it does in a home system. Form my old school knowledge, you should have any vehicle system running an additional mono amp just for the sub. And if you have dual subs run 2 mono amps, one for each sub. The thought process should be the same as your thinking for your home system.

In my case, my car is the same as home. car is acoustically treated in all 5 doors and they entire floor. Trunk rattle is inevitable and it's a measure of spl in the car audio world. You hear none of it inside the car

i have a single polk audio 12" db series in a ported box and i am powering it with a kenwood mono block 300 rms amp and i have 4 6x9 polk audio db series and i am powering those with a 2 ch Jensen a/b amp at 62.5 rms per speaker for the mids and highs .... hooked to the factory radio in my dodge grand caravan and it pretty badass since i am under powering everything .... but i am considering hooking up a home theater sub ... just to see what it would be like
