So the painting begins as I continue the remodel of my self serve car wash. Let me know what you think and what you want to see in my upcoming video of me renovating my car wash.
After working for my Uncle for 2 years at he's car washes I really wanted my own and I came across this car wash. It was completely shutdown for many years so I approached the owner of the land and made a deal with him.
It took me 6 weeks to bring it back to life and open it and now the customers are starting to pour in. Not to mention I opened it during winter so I am yet. to see its full potential but here's a small taste of how its going so far!

Two notes to your install: Teflontape => Forget it! Copper fittings has a very smooth surface, where the tape should seal. After some use water flow will start washing away teflontape. Because it can not stick. Copper fittings have to be roughen up. Metal sawblade or boxcutter blade ia perfect for it. Just scare the grooves of threads and threads it self paralell to flowing direction. Use loctite 55 finally.

I would I’ve gone up and used at least like a large spackle knife, 6 inch to scrape away the paint to make it even that way it would’ve blended better. Dam when you turned on the lights that blinded us ! Really good job !

TBH from a distance you can’t even tell it wasn’t stripped. It’s just nice to not have all the black Dalmatian spots and yellowed paint.

Why does Edwin remind me of Wilmer Valderama? It’s a roof. The important part is the mechanicals and the customers are happy.

You need a bigger head as that really slows things done. A large roller may be easier.

Suggestion. A few KZbin videos on airless paint sprayer use would be good.

Awesome. I'm with you about just painting it. In the end it's just leased, so why build it new. In my experience: Clean lines, no overspray, and evenly colored surfaces is what actually makes it look good in the end. Not really the texture under it, as long as it's somewhat even on the whole surface (like on your roof, evenly flaked off old paint beneath it, if you get what I mean). Looks awesome! Can't wait for more.

Also, sometimes a brush and a roller is better for the edges. I would just fill everything in with airless. Minimizing overspray. And cover floors while painting! Just drag a piece of paper along where you're standing.

Probably way more economical to patch it up every year or so. Doing this correctly would mean basting it or smearing it with paintstripper and then coating it with some durable coated paint. Which often is hideously expensive and takes a lot of time. Also shout-out to Edwin's gray hear.

maybe a roller may have hidden some of the patchiness, but it’s good enough
