@CM303898 Жыл бұрын
We bought a Platinum. We test drove the Prado Kakadu, and it couldn’t compare. It’s the little things that you don’t think of, that make the differences. The Prado third row seats are standalone propositions. If you’ve ever had kids, you’ll know they drop shit all the time, and an integrated seat setup like the Everest reduces the risk of stuff falling between seats, or underneath them. The Everest has all 5 second and third row seats with childseat anchor points on the back of the seat. It’s not in the roof like a Pajero Sport. It’s not only in the second, but not the third, forcing strange utilisation setups for travelling. We had a 2015 Everest Trend (which also had 5 seats with anchor points), and we were able to load it up with 5 car seats (when the kids were younger), for a birthday party. It is a shame Ford didn’t put the 240V socket back in. It’s in the Everest in other countries, but ADR’s preclude universal plugs (what the last generation had), and so instead of getting a $2 plastic socket facia put on all Australian-bound Everest’s and Rangers, they just pulled it. I guess it gives them something to add in the midlife upgrade… Either way, there isn’t anything different to the electrical system between Australian and other market Everest’s, so an auto electrician could easily just whack one in. The Matrix headlights are fantastic. The V6 diesel sounds like a petrol - I swear to god; it’s just so silky smooth. The Everest can run in RWD only if you want, which helps save some fuel. We optioned ours with the 18” wheels and All Terrain tyres. They aren’t the nicest looking wheels, but we drive on the Bruce Highway a fair bit, so the cushioning that the higher sidewall offers is more desirable. Things not mentioned in this test are that the tailgate of the Everest can be opened by flicking your foot underneath it. Same for closing it. The Everest doesn’t have a CD player at all, and it’s not an optionable item. That doesn’t bother us, but it might for some buyers. The Everest has speed sign recognition, so can change your cruise control to the new speed (as you come in - or leave - small towns, etc. It also identifies school zones, and you can set the times those school zones apply, so it can change the cruise control there too. You can setup a tolerance for the cruise control. We know that 104kph is a true 100kph, so we can set the car to do +4kph to the speed sign recognition, so when it sees a 100kph sign, it will set us to 104kph. The lane keeping assist is truely remarkable. I’ve winced at it - guarding the steering wheel with my hands - but let the Everest whoosh me around snaking left and right bends at 80kph, all by itself. After about 10 seconds it starts yelling at you to keep your hands on the wheel, but it does almost drive itself. The Everests have access to the Ford Pass app, which allows you to remote start your car. The Everests have a built in modem and connect to any cellular network for over the air updates, as well as accident notifications to emergency services, etc. This also enables the vehicle to be remote started almost anywhere in the world, so when you get to it, it can be cooled (or heated), so it’s not too uncomfortable. The doors are locked so obviously people can’t just steal the car, but it’s hilarious remote starting it in car parks because people look around and this car starting all by itself. It also has a reverse parallel parking feature, where it will park the car for you. The cameras give you 180° vision from the front bumper and rear bumper, enabling you to get out of blind spots (carparks, T junctions, etc), without the risk of someone hitting you out of nowhere. We can’t fault our Everest Platinum yet.

These KZbin car reviewers are too easily amused by fancy new bells and whistles. What vehicle has the newest tech and so forth, but they don't take into account how these latest tech things always have problems. They also praise these little things but put very little emphasis on reliability. Which should be the most important factor when reviewing a vehicle. I live in Uganda, and these Ford Everests just don't last long. They don't have the reliability of the Toyotas. You see one that's 5 years old, it's value has depreciated greatly. But the Toyota has only depreciated about 10 to 15 percent in 5 years. Third world countries are the true testing ground to determine a vehicles reliability, and you quickly see that nothing comes close to a Toyota. I wish these KZbin car reviewers weren't so easily distracted by shiney new toys and gadgets and could focus on the vehicles reliability. Because purchasing a car is essentially an investment. And the reliability of a vehicle is going to determine its resale value and depreciation. Fancy little tech things will never add nothing to the value of the car in the long run, they are just more things to break and go wrong. It's just not a smart investment to buy a vehicle other than a Toyota, especially in this class of vehicle.

They are designed after all to be comfortable in the bush, what’s the point in just testing them in the urban space? During Christmas break, travelled in my mate’s Kakadu from Sydney to Adelaide and returned to Melbourne with my brother in Law in his Everest Platinum which he acquired recently. (Reason was to check how the car is, as I am on the verge of buying a 7 Seater SUV, and was waiting for testing the Everest) Yes the tech in Ford is new but ride quality is incomparable. Prado beats Everest hands down. The Everest was rough and with too much body roll. Understandably so because it is a UTE based SUV whereas Prado ia not. Surprisingly all these reviewers who used to compare Everest with Pajeri Sport and Fortuner have conveniently forgotten their own reviews where Everest was touted as UTE based SUV. My advice to all the buyers is to somehow teat both cars for a longer distance and then make a decision. Cheers!!

Watching this video makes me happy that I bought a brand new 2.8L diesel Prado last year. Still has plenty of tech, but not too much. And luckily it only has lane departure warning it doesnt help keep you in then lane with is seriously dangerous as on tight country roads you sometimes have to cross lanes on corners because roads aren't wide enough to keep in your lane. Having the car automatically keep you in your lane can and is dangerous and will cause more accidents than prevent. For those that really want this feature in a car, you either need to wake up, be more alert and drive the car or quit driving it is that simple. Cars nowadays have way to many driver aids. I like to drive a car and be in full control of it not the car in control of me. The prado is a perfect balance having many safety features, but at the same time letting the driver remain in full control. Before long we will all just sit in a car while it drives up to our destination. When that day comes, it will be better to just use public transportation. I hope Toyota doesnt ruin the new Prado by adding to much useless tech that most people should not be relying on. Anyway we shall see what becomes of it this autumn when it is released here in 🗾.

The biggest for me was that the Prado doesn't have wireless Carplay and you have to buy a wireless adapter for it. Look it seems like Ford have done great job in the design and options and pricing. Toyota has been banking on their reputation for reliability while investing very little in R&D. Most new vehicles with long warranties are reliable too, and have better features and are more fun to drive. Most folks only keep their cars for 3-7 years before they replace them so saying the Toyota will still be in good shape in 20years is irrelevant. In almost every way the Everest is a better vehicle, more performance, more space and more features, and it's nearly 10k cheaper. It's hard to tell this years Prado from one ten years ago, and the interior is standard Japanese bland and boring. Toyota has even reduced their investment in performance models and engine tech, preferring to JV with Subaru and BMW to develop performance models. It's actually sad to see Toyota falling so far behind the competition. Prados are good vehicles for heavy off road use, but aside from that, they're old school and boring vehicles that don't do anything particularly well. In fact, there's been quite a lot of issues with Toyota Diesel engines in Asia so the reliability issues aren't really much of a selling point if you bother to do any research on it. I usually keep my vehicles about four to five years so I know which one of these I'd take and it isn't the Prado.

Ford don’t need lane assist. Thats actually a massive selling point. Can’t stand it when the car is trying to veer you back and take over all the time. Most of the time it’s a false warning. Some cars you can’t even turn it off. So no it’s not a problem. Unless you suck at driving.

It’s Toyota’s fault that they make reliable and practical vehicles that last for generations. Because some people don’t simply deserve that, they need cars with all the bells and whistles that can hardly last a decade (in one piece). Sorry Toyota, you make bland and boring cars that are only designed to do the job and last for ages without breaking down on roads. That is not a good thing.

Here you have two cars being reviewed and one is much more expensive ie the Toyota and less modern than the Ford and is bettered in almost all areas yet we did not have a complaint about HUD or BSA what does the Everest reviewer want autonomous driving too? For my money he would be square on the Eveerest for too long Toyata has been getting away with sudstandard and poorly eqiped cars trading on the myth they are more reliable.. Is it because the people who buy them tend to look after their money more? Just saying...

I drive a 2021 Kakadu and now In the red centre in a 2021 Everest Titanium after driving the Kakadu to SA. The Prado rides a bit firmer and corners better thanks to the KDSS. The 360 Camera works great not sure why the Everest we have doesn’t have it as it’s a must. The retuned engine with new turbo is more responsive than the Everest twin turbo. The Everest is noticeably more efficient at very high speeds even with ATs vs light duty ATs on the Prado and is equally quiet. It’s interior is not as well put together and less intuitive but has more bells and whistles. It doesn’t have a dual tank like our Prado but still has reasonable range. When you close the door it’s just not the same perceived solidity as our Prado. There is marginally more leg room for rear passengers behind my seat in the Prado. I’ll take my Kakadu thanks.
