sir can you explain why the discounting rate is called cost of capital??

It is actually reverse. We use cost of capital rate for finding the present value. Any rate which we use for finding the present value will be called as discount rate. Sometimes we will use cost of debt for finding the present value in which case discount rate will be cost of debt. In some case we will use cost of equity for finding the present value in which case cost of equity will be the discount rate.
