Seeing this kind of video can stir most anyone into learning to tackle car audio. There’s a lot more to it than meets the eye. It’s thought process has a progression that your videos make a lot easier. Practice and experience is what make your videos demystify the process. You break things down into steps and that makes it more palatable for those who are just starting and showing the details proves to experienced installers who live for the details. Everyone can do this, but patience is needed to execute it very well. You can’t afford to be sloppy or in a hurry if you want it done well. Details matter. Keep feeding the data and methods. Some will be inspired and some will become practitioners of the craft. Stay safe mates!😊👍🏻😷

Back in the day (20 plus years) I worked, ironically, at a Ford/Mazda/Lincoln dealership. Sure a lot really wouldn't be surprised, but we see crazy crap on new vehicles. Mazda B4000 (same as Ranger back then) had Mazda on one side and Ranger on the other door sill. Diffs having no fluid, one mech heard a rattle and thump in the passenger door of a Taurus and found a air ratchet. Best part was we almost NEVER had issues with the Lincolns. Always minor things like a sticky cup holder retract. We used to joke that Mondays and Fridays they produced garbage.

Baby steps man. Start small and slow. Pick up stuff used(not complete trash of course) do a build on your own rig, starting small, then add to or replace. Then Atleast you’ll know wether it’s something you really want to invest into and do long turn. I love doing the work on my own Rigs, but honestly would never want to do it for work. But that’s just me personally of course, which comes with a ton of different variables and reasons why. Good luck man, and just don’t go overboard thinking you need the best of the best stuff and don’t overload your self with a crazy project or you’ll more than likely be stressin’ instead of enjoyin’.

Hey Mark where is a reliable place to purchase speaker foam and the likes of that? I can find the usual large sheets but little strips like this for the pillars I'm coming up empty. Also curious about locating speaker gasket. Thanks.
@wwlittlejOfficial2 жыл бұрын
The lower A-pillar is a nice location, but I really wish more installers would focus on that low triangle, where the dash, the A-pillar, and the windshield meet. I'm no fabricator, nor an installer but I can imagine making a small pod, and fitting something like a 2, 3, even maybe a 4" coaxial, u would get amazing forward and stereo imaging, rather than the ubiquitous left ight side. In audio, we should focus as much on a forward image as a left-right image. Obviously, this is not a perfect s0lution for many vehicles, because depending on the size of the pod, u might cut off a bit of view, but honestly, I don't know exactly. I've tried mocking something up in my Cadillac and didn't see much of a restriction. Would love to see this in action. I've even thought of more exotic ways of making this with a 3" mid-woofer and a verticle ribbon tweeter running up the A-pillar... Mark, or anyone else, do u understand what I mean? Just my thoughts.

I prefer black A pillar trims. What happened to included angle mounts coming with tweeters like Boston Acoustic Pro series, only 25 years ago. Bought angle cups for my current JL C7 tweeters for door mirror / sail panel locations
@CarAudioFabrication2 жыл бұрын
To be honest I almost never use those cups. They are nice to have but if someone is going to try to precisely aim the speakers they aren't going ro rely on a certain angle cup, they'd likely custom fab. My 2 cents.

What program did you use to model the mounts? I'd love to be able to use pictures to help model a few things.
@d.natrop44952 жыл бұрын
Looks like Fusion 360. Remember a picture is never taken dead center so if you looking for precision get blueprints. Or else transform the image with photoshop.
@Domaudeo2 жыл бұрын
Did you consider "aiming" the tweeter a bit better while doing this custom mount? Let's say to get a better imaging just as you've shown us on a previous video on the subject.
@CarAudioFabrication2 жыл бұрын
They are aimed decently based on their OEM position. Could it be optimized with a fully custom made pod? Of course. But you guys are always asking for different budget range solutions and this fits the more mid range upgrade vs a fully custom made pod with much more labor.
@Domaudeo2 жыл бұрын
@@CarAudioFabrication I was referring to a way to aim the tweeter internally in the A-Pillar, keep using the factory grill and location and taking advantage of the insulation stuff you've shown to "tunnel" the sound. Not sure if there is space for that or even if this is possible or if it worth it..
