Best rv toilet instruction on utube.I was getting a little leakage emptying cassette and thought it was a seal. Now I know it is residual water after closing mechanism. 1st viideo that actually explained why. Thanks

Thank you very much for your outstanding and very nice explanations. I have broken the internal part of the lid, closing plate, and half-moon part under the cap. I wonder if the reserve part is available to buy or if I must change the complete cassette? Thanks in advance.

Howdy, they dont sell individual parts but you can buy just the closing mechanism as a complete replacement for around $80

Hi great video. When filling with 1 litre of water, can that be done from inside the van? By just opening the latch and pouring water in?

Yes, absolutely

Does it have to be 1 liter of water? What happens if I put only 300ml let’s say? Because I feel that I shrinken the capacity of the toilet by already putting 1 liter of water. Thank you 🙏🏼

Good instructional video made it plain and simply. I am still looking for the best product to lube the seals (rubber grease maybe)
@Vagare3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Gary. We've been using mostly olive oil for many years and the current seals are 7 years old and still good. I have used rubber grease a couple of times, but the olive oil is alsways more handy when I remember

I just bought my first camper. That orange handle that you lift up before you pull it out, does it go all the way out like a handle to use along with the wheels when you wanna go and empty the toilett.? Do i press like a button or something to get it fully out? Cause mine is stuck and i can't see any other handle to pull out all the way..!! I have the car at a friends house at the moment so o just wanted to know the next time I use it i pull the right handle so i don't break anything..
@Vagare Жыл бұрын
Hey Victor, yes the handle pulls out to enable you to roll it around like the Devil's suitcase. Holding tbe button down during the emptying process allows air to enter the cassette. This stops "chugging", encourages a smooth flow and reduces the potential for splash back
@victorwho744 Жыл бұрын
@@Vagare Thank you! Ok, i guess i must try to pull it out a little harder, cause it was stuck.. I'll try again, thanx man👊

I cleaned my cassette similar to your instructions.. but now the blade will only partially open when cassette installed .. I've tried every combination to install but as much as it closes off nice and tight, it will now only open about 1/3-1/2 ..What have i done..??
@Vagare2 ай бұрын
Presuming you removed the removable blade mechanism, the only thing can think off would be the blade mechanism isnt rotated 100% closed. Remove the blade mechanism to see if it works out of the cassette, if not you should be able to see whats stopping it

About how many flushes do you get before the cassette is full?
@Vagare3 жыл бұрын
Caravan toilet cassettes generally have a 17 to 20ltr capacity. With a few variables at play youll have to do your own math with how many visits. What more important to us is regardless of volume trying not to go past two days before emptying
@1fisho Жыл бұрын
If you turn the sliding cover around the other way you can use it as a lever to undo it instead of trying to use your hand to turn it
@Vagare Жыл бұрын
Hey Kevin. My advise would be to avoid that. Youre very likely to split the flimsy guides on the top of the mechanism, and for what looks like $3.50 worth of plastic is pretty expensive to replace
@TheWid3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! How often do you do the internal cassette lube you describe? Annually or every emptying?
@Vagare3 жыл бұрын
Hey Tony. I give the cassette a thorough clean once a year, including lubing all the seals. I also lube the seals maybe every 4 to 8 weeks when we're using the van

Where do you get those biscuits from sounds a good idea or what else could you use Do you put anything into the toilet for the smell
@Vagare3 жыл бұрын
Hey Maxine, any commercial cleaning supplies, Amazon or Ebay ... or if you have a friendly hotel, restaurant or commercial business owners on your friend list, they'll usually have them (new), they arent worth much. We just use Sodium Percarbonate (laundry soaker/nappy wash) in the tank with a few drops of eucalyptus or tee tree oil. The Soduim Percarbonate is environ friendly not that we're Greenies by any stretch but it cant hurt to do what we can, and means the tank can be emptied into septics and long drops.

How the indicator know the casett are full?

Hey Michael, theres i small magnet float inside the cassette tbat lines up with a sensor located inside the caravan hatch. The float rises, the sensor detects the magnet and activates the light

The newer model in my 2022 Revel has more button ahd you cannot unlock that main area; it is screwed in. I just took it apart because it was stinky even after cleaning. There is a filter that i cannot figure out its purpose other than collecting bacteria and that is what needed cleaned. There was another knob on the top and apparently not to be removed because now it is broken. Not happy with this never version. now i have to buy another one.

Is it a Thetford toilet
@JayDee-xj9lu3 жыл бұрын
Why can't you just leave the sliding cover on after removing the cassette and turn the lever to release the residual water. Therefore not exposing you to the nasties inside.? Thanks for a great video.
@Vagare3 жыл бұрын
Hey Jay, you absolutely can. I remove the sliding cover only because it slides in the direction of the pour, theyre expensive and i don't want loose it into the sewer. As far as being exposed to the nasties, you can only avoid that until they all come out the pour spout 😄
