This just hits so much harder than any other song on the album, even if they're all great! The upbeat melodies and sections - 1:55 - are totally underpinned by the more melancholic piano underneath it all. In a way it's a representation of life. I never asked for the terrible things that happened to me for 16 years to happen, but they did, and they still sit with me a little, but they shaped my perspective now that I'm doing so much better - the melancholic piano, drowned out by the upbeat melodies, it'll always be there, but I can choose to sing along with it. Life is beautiful, I've come to realise that, it's not perfect and never will be. But what I've got now is enough for me, I've got family and friends, every day I get to walk to work across the creek to look out over the rippling water, reeds swaying in the wind as gum trees line the banks. It's simple, but it's amazing, I love it, I'll look at it every time I cross that creek, it makes me glad that I'm still here. Even if against all odds, life on this little space rock of ours exists, that despite everything that happens, there will always be there bending down to reach out a hand, and that no matter where the world goes, things can always change for the better, the upbeat melodies can always drown out that piano! I can't make everything better, I'm only one person, but I can be part of those melodies, I can be the one singing along with it all, one single voice in a sea of a maybe a few, or maybe many, but I'll be there, trying to make things better. Thank you, Caravan Palace.
