People are saying this is about feminism or self confidence but I feel like they are watching a different video. This is obviously a dream sequence as introduced in the beginning, noted by both the first sample (Just imagine a trip to a wonderful land...) and the first scene of the video. This video is about a person who dreams of money , power, clothing, and jewels... either because they don't have any or they don't have enough to satisfy them. This character dreams of be held up like a god - walking on people and controlling them with both chains and ropes. Ultimately this character does not care about any of these people around her as they are just objects within her fantasies. This video is not about feminism, nor is it about confidence. It is about pure narcissism and immense self-indulgence.

To respond to the whole ‘she’s a badass inside’ I think that’s a poorly handled idea. One has to act badass, as in do badass things. That person can have incredibly low self esteem, but if they do badass things, then they’re a badass. I see everyone saying their opinion on what the video means so here I go as well: I think It's about a girl who seeks control and dominance of everything and everyone, so she fantasises about it and her dreams prove too sweet (Linking to the theme of the wonderful land of candy) and then her fantasy overwhelms her sinking into her everyday life (Because of the colours being Blue for the real world and Red for the 'wonderland) and then her 'wonderland' proves to be something she doesn't wan't in the real world (Which is why she doesn't seem to be lying so calmly later in the video) she later chooses to embrace (Symbolised by pulling the people on strings in closer to her) she can no longer tell what's real her 'wonderland' or the blue world so she chooses to let the 'wonderland' consume her, which is why the video ends in red

This is almost unfair. How the hell can other musical artists hope to compete with that? It's quite possibly a perfect song, along with a perfect video... even though it's perfectly mental! Amazing blistering grooves, clever-as-hell jazz/swing elements blended in the cleverest way possible, sultry, sassy sharp vocals, and with an actual message, rather than empty refrains. She was briefly reminded that the real world exists, as if she woke up, but she doesn't have anything specific that she needs to do right then so she eventually re-enters her fantasy because it's more exciting than her real life. It's called Wonderland so she feels transported. Edit: I'd agree with you if her living room had shifted into a different room (maybe wealthier and/or bigger) instead of disappearing entirely. That's what clenches my interpretation.

Okay so here's my little interpretation. The woman appears to be isolated from other people and from the world outside of her apartment (since it is literally shown to be a box floating in nothingness.) To escape her loneliness she lies down and starts dreaming about her "wonderland", a dreamworld where she can do whatever she wants. There she lives out all her fantasies which include having a lot of money, having nice accessories like chains and rings and having people be around her constantly. However she doesn't dream of expressing any other desires than that of having ultimate control and power. It is only when the three woman (at around 1:08) float out of her grip that she decides to actually chain everyone up in order to force them to not leave her ever again. At some point though the woman wakes up again. Completely unsatisfied with real life she seems to begin to confuse real life with her dream (which could be demonstrated by how the walls of her room suddenly starts to slide up and down just like the small well did in her dream and how the people that appear in the room are coloured pink like her dream was.) She then continues to either leave real life again or start to make it become the dream. (I'm sorry if there are any grammatical errors. I'm still learning english) Also thank you for reading!
