Dan, another water related one to add to your list. The nozzle on the kitchen tap in the Phoenix unscrews and there is a filter inside which stops grit, sand, scale etc coming out of the tap. The problem I hit was that the filter got coated which meant no cold water from the tap and an error on the Truma which I couldn’t clear. Fix is easy - unscrew the end of the tap - you might need a pair of mole grips the first time, rinse the filter and away you go. It was my first night away this year and I admit I left the van and went home to sort the problem in the morning as I assumed the pump had failed.

Yes indeed!! this caught us out a couple of years ago, i ended up taking the entire swan neck out as the end filter would not shift. Might do a video on this as it looks like others are suffering the same. Thanks for the info. Take care Dan

@@TheTrudgians thankfully I found it on Tintenter’s vlog or I would have had to call out a mobile engineer - I was convinced the van was seriously faulty as I had a boiler error at the same time which I couldn’t clear. The tap nozzle got Terence’s again on the Caravan Place at the weekend but you have to know the symptoms and you have to know how to use mole grips to remove the nozzle the first time

Great video Dan I had mine home a couple of weeks ago and gave it a good clean. I also bought one of those vax spot washers you recommended and cleaned the carpets. I also had it serviced ready for the season and everything came back good. We’ve booked a site for the beginning of April which will be our first outing with our 4 month old baby

Thank you do much Dan, taught us everything over the last 3 yrs since we started caravanning. Been cleaning out the water system as per Yr original video 2x per year and always had a little wonder about the blue hoses 😂 soooo we had a go yesterday. Brought both lengths home filled up in the bath witha strong puriclean soln and.......omg! What came out??? And 24 hours later still disgusting! Both 3 yr old hoses (never cleaned) now in bin, new ones on order and promise to clean out when we do the system.....thank you!

Great video Dan, I brought ours home last weekend and did our ground hog day checks. One thing I do with the wheel nuts everyone seems to be obsessed with making sure the wheels nuts are tight. I also ensure I can undo the nuts so that I know I can get the wheel off if I need to and one or several have not seized before torquing them back up again. I’ve also noticed our toilet pump sticks after not being used and requires serval button pushes before it works again and then works all season with out fail.

Very comprehensive video Dan, well explained 👍. We had the Phantom tracker and alarm fitted when we ordered our caravan 10 years ago and have just renewed the one off 5 year subscription for the third time. I also use the app to check the battery and to activate service mode when required. Agree it’s an excellent system and we get a discount on the insurance. All the best to you all, Rob & Gail

Another cleaning tip for waste tanks etc i was given was fill it with warm water and put a dishwasher tablet lesve it to dissolve then simply rinse out this works and is a lot cheaper than buying chemicals

Hi Dan, Good information here, and hope you have a good season. Reference the dates on fire extinguishers, I would be very suspect of any that are not in date to work as needed when required. To that end, I bought a few of the Fire Safety Sticks at the NEC to replace the "old" powder type that I had in the MoHo. They look to be a far better (& lighter) product than powder ones, and given they have zero maintenance requirements and leave no mess after use (unlike powder ones), any subsequent clean up will hopefully be a lot easier (& no, I'm not sponsored by them!). You mentioned about the instruction manuals. I have so many which , if carried on board, eat into the caravans payload. I’ve uploaded all mine to Google Drive so they are accessible via my iPad. Obviously subject to mobile signal, but I’ve not had any problems whatsoever. Just thought I would share this.

You say you have your service in October well I always have mine in the 1st week of March because then it is ready for the start of the season. We don’t usually go away in the winter, as much as we would like but my good lady still works so we are restricted to how many days holiday she can take.

Hi Dan, Great Video as always and some good reminders. I’ve just discovered a fault on my 2019 Bailey Unicorn Vigo and wonder whether you have heard of anything similar. I’ve just used my van for the first time this year and we got caught in very heavy rain, so had all the lights on. After 20 minutes all the near side lights went out on the van except for the indicator and brake light. I gather it is due to the car 2017 Audi Q5 sending a signal to all the lights to check they are working. As the van uses some LEDs the signal comes back and the system turns that circuit off. If you switch off the engine and start again after 5 minutes all the lights work again for 20 minutes then shut down again. I realised that this would have been the first time that we had driven with the lights on, as we don’t normally drive at night, so this has never happened before. Any thoughts. Thanks Ian

Hi, its not a bad idea, but - if your caravan relies on a tracker or alarm to be active, you must have it enabled to ensure your caravan insurance is valid. If you have a solar panel on your caravan, this can usually keep it topped up during winter. I have never removed my battery over winter - and so far its been fine. Hope that helps. Dan

Hi Rob, yes we have diamondbrite on our caravan. Dry Sparkle is fine to use on this and other coatings / protection on the surface.

You didn't mention that you should always move the van in reverse before forwards. If the brakes are jammed, moving backwards should have them break from the drum. Moving forward will only make them jam harder.
