@@galacticnemesis366 There must be a way. From all our travels I’m yet to see anything other than poor behaviour from the locals and excellent practices from tourists. There might be something in that according to locals we’ve spoken to. Managing the issues is a challenge but it’s better than just closing stuff - how can we make this work is a better management angle to come from.

Time to put a stop to these closures. Too many places are being shut down.

Hi so agree Wauraltee beach needs to stay open .We absolutely love this beach stayed there many times . Never seen the bad things or rubbish the council are talking about . We would pay to still come here.

This is the best thing that has happened. Due to a group of idiots getting on social media, KZbin and whatever else sharing spots like this they are over run. People are coming and staying down for months at a time because it’s free. Go down on a long weekend or over most of summer and it is literally bumper to bumper people with $200thousand dollar camping set ups. Stoked that it’s still open to swags and tents. How it should be. But people coming, staying for months, leaving it a hole and fishing out the area has to stop. Nothing stays sacred anymore.

@@browney1998 I think all beach camping is out. Shame, I can’t begin to imagine the laps at peak times. Good if you can pitch a tent etc but it doesn’t read that way.

It’s such a shame, we’ve camped there it was fantastic, we didn’t see any one doing the wrong thing, it is a bit strange where you have to pay in the council camp sites but not on the beach.

Well they weren’t successful at Perlubie which now has 30 managed beach sites. Hopefully they can work out a similar arrangement for this beach.

@caravansbythecampfire No charge for spending all day at all these beaches but you have to pay for overnight. Are you going to Eyre peninsula? If yes book for Lipson Cove. Second Creek is a donation about 3 or 4 spaces in the area provided by council. Free water at the RV park in Tumby Bay. Bakers is one of the best.

Such a shame to see this closing. We were there over last new years with 150 other campers and to be honest the majority of campers appeared to be doing the right thing. It was actually a great vibe down there. Everyone was there for the same reason, to enjoy life and our incredible land/ocean. Is 150 campers in one place a great idea for the environment? No, I don’t think so but I do think with some better management in place, it would be great if set up like Perlubie. Just my opinion though of course.

No idea why authorities failed to properly manage Wauraltee and limit numbers rather than a knee jerk ban. Gutted we won't be on the Yorke til after the ban 😢

The vast majority of people are clearly doing the right thing it’s those that aren’t. There is plenty of evidence along the beach of scattered rubbish on beach into dunes, others having a campfire on beach, broken gazebo left at the edge of dunes, donuts and burnouts on the beach by some, probably not what u want to see and this isn’t a busy time.
@Dk.xplor_aus15 күн бұрын
Absolutely close it. We camped there for many years when no one was there and have watched it go backwards since the influencers jumped on it.

Unfortunately the minority continue to ruin it for the rest of us who genuinely care about leaving a place the same or better than we found it. I believe that Perlubie will go the same way once other paid camps open up.

That's because the bums in seat for this State are slowly killing it.. SA can't stand anyone enjoying themselves in this State.. Since my time growing up in SA I have seen all sorts of places closed down, The Crawford forests use to be great for getting away for the day. Then we have all the places you could go as a family , Marine world, Greenhills adventure park, Lakeside adventure park, Puzzle park Murray Bridge, Downtown, etc etc .. Anything that is remotely enjoyable these Old farts running the show close down.. I'm trying to leave this State and give my kids a better life .. SA has lost its way, Backwater of Australia
